  1. Sleety pish down here, just shows the difference height makes. Edit: take that back now snow
  2. Had a brief snow shower earlier, very big flakes. This was after usual rain showeres all day. Checked radar looks like frequent showers coming in from NW but they're very small so not expecting anything to lie.
  3. Might be trying to get rid of all the grit stockpiled - I think they may have read the daily express forecast for Winter when deciding how much grit to stock!
  4. Meanwhile in boston: http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/snow-removal-boston-northeast/42028195 It seems they have snow farms in Boston to try and get rid of the snow lol!
  5. Reminds me - going to give car a good wash this weekend and get all the grit off of it, under the arches and body as well, as it causes rust.
  6. Was whiteout this morning here - frost! Although there was a wee flurry on when I left the house
  7. Aye typical MO ramping us all up and then: "This is an update to delay the start of expected impacts, reduce the southward extent of expected snowfall across Scotland and point to reduced amounts of snow in much of Northern Ireland."
  8. There's actually a few flakes falling from the stuff from the north, it's so small though as precip is all but exhausted by the time it gets here that I can only see it when I have the front door floodlight on.
  9. Be nice to see a few get through but would think a pure Northerly wouldn't bring too much through here. I think there actually was a few potent showers from the North here in 2010/11 but not anything significant.
  10. I could actually see that on the radar earlier - the showers dissipating over the hills to the North of here, I don't think I've ever seen a pure Northerly deliver snow here apart from the few flakes left of the showers as they crossed the hills. Oh well spose can't complain as the NW delivered and they usually don't give us much either.
  11. Met O now got yellow warning for snow extending across SW West Central and central belt...ssgoinon? I'll defo be taking this warning with a big pinch of grit!
  12. I'm hearing more and more the phrase North and East for snow so I think we've (the weedgies) probably had our snowfest for now at least, maybe Monday/Tuesday there's a potential little low going to skirt down the West but too far away yet to pin down its track. Aberdeen and co might be your turn now! Aka gavs forecast: Temperatures could stay around freezing all day. It looks like a little low pressure system will bring heavy snow to the north and west on Tuesday.
  13. About same situation here in Inverclyde, North Westerly more or less misses us and pastes many parts of central and SE, then a Best fae the East appears, wallops the SE and Central and we get hee haw! Joke is place!
  14. Even if it did cross over central I don't think it would give much anyway, except for the first 10-15 miles of the West. It doesn't look much bigger than the streamers we were getting the other night.
  15. Looks like it's going to pivot over Arran and the big chunk South of that pivot will swing through Ayrshire and DG then slide South. It is really cold out there though now and quite a lot of cloud cover, moving very very slowly directly South.
  16. The band did seem to go from a straight SE direction to then sort of stopping and then pivoting just out from the W coast, like a swirling type thing (scientific explanation) but I did also notice a big chunk of the precip getting vaporised by the snow shield as it headed more Westward.
  17. Raintoday radar down. Anyone got their own satellite?
  18. watchin radar there, precip seems to be vanishing into thin air, well even thinner air, as it nears land. Aka snow shield!
  19. Damn had to be in snowless Paisley didn't I ! And from MET: Showers of sleet, snow and hail will continue through the rest of Thursday and into Friday morning, although at lower levels there will be a gradual trend towards rain and sleet from Thursday evening onwards. This will bring a risk of further snow, especially on higher ground, along with icy stretches on untreated surfaces.
  20. Got up and first thing I seen was snow shower whizzing up the clyde. Think to be honest we are just getting the coat tails of that precip as it moves through from the North of us, showers only ten mins max with some longer ones. Wish it would swing down a wee bit. Radar looks fairly ok. Ground crunchy as well - watch you don't go on your bahookI!
  21. Many happy returns, mine yesterday and got snow on the day chuffed!
  22. Couldny sleep there (think it was the chinese gurglin in my gut!) and got up, as could hear eves cracking, looked out and see this almighty red curtain flowing down the Clyde, so got the shoes on rolled a tip and jumped out front. What a site, ferocious howling winds absolute blizzard etc. Got a bit cagey thought might get a crack of thunder so puffed up and got in! Mental, snow looks topped up a bit too. If only that would hold on for a couple of hours we's get a walloping! Fingers crossed that streamer coming down from NW seems to be lumping together, hope more builds to the SE and gets it's act together. Think I'll be on the strong coffee at work the morrow!
  23. Few more showers since my last post, about a cm covering. Radar starting to look a bit hee haw oot west of us so not anticipating much more for here. Looks like further NW and down into central belt going to do good.
  24. Walked hame in a pretty good shower about half 5 then a few others on and off till about 7 then not much going on since then, although more coming in on radar. Very liitle accumulation though but grass, roofs etc white.
  25. Oh dear that's not good, headin back that way this evening. Hope it changes. Snowing quite frequently in Paisley. Amber warning just skirts Inverclyde and is valid from 17:00 so maybe hope for later on: Valid from: 1700 on Wed 28 Jan 2015 Valid to: 1100 on Thu 29 Jan 2015
