  1. Welcome Seedubs. This regional thread is quite friendly and quite informative. Some of those photographs at some stage might be interesting! Try and put your location etc in your profile....... happy posting.
  2. Looking at the Beeb there is possibility of some snow showers tonight coming through Wales and tomorrow. The doom and gloom is possibly because for the majority none of this has been spectacular and looking at the MOD thread this morning it seems the next week will be cold with snow showers on coasts but mainly dry which is not that appealing in any shape or form for people looking for snow. Anyway, I am sure none of this is set in stone and lets hope it progresses to something really cold and snowy.
  3. Errrrrrrm.................. coming down nicely in Tongwynlais with a really strong wind - nice to see !
  4. updated warnings on the MetO site for Wales http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?regionName=wl&from=rss&sn=8DB6775B-1CCC-B0CC-7269-3534BB92F177_1_WL&tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1422748800
  5. But...... just seen the latest forecast and they are not saying snow for majority of Wales. Showers don't float my boat - we need a front to come in - showers go quickly - that's more like late March/April activity when you get your last chance of snow before spring. Winter we need a snow filled front to go over us. Not going to happen atm.
  6. I am not convinced yet by all this cold weather especially after seeing the Beeb forecast for Wales earlier this morning. They are showing 5's and 6's up to and including Saturday, very little PPN and also the PPN shown is rain. Showers infrequent. Northerlies in my many years of being on this planet for Wales are generally disappointing and 99% of the time they are always warmer than initially anticipated plus drier. (Wishbone effect) I can see all the MOD thread excitement but I am holding back at this time. Too many let downs to date but this one I can see going the same way for us especially with recent solar activity possibly due to put a dampener on proceedings. Fingers crossed though.
  7. Tongwynlais - just went outside - it's nowhere near as cold and it's pouring down with rain. Obviously quite dark and the rain looks set in for a while. Not holding out much hope for tonight unless someone tells me it is supposed to get colder later tonight in latest updates.
  8. Well if it's not sticking up with you we have no chance further down the valleys - especially if you are having sleety stuff.
  9. Depends where you are - valleys might be a bit tricky later on tonight.
  10. Quality - love the nowcast!! Hope the euro 4 is bang on the money then - not going to hang around too late in work today then just in case......
  11. I am thinking this is proving difficult to forecast - some say rain tonight, some are showing snow then perhaps turning to rain by morning - some not! I think the apps being automated are not necessarily the most accurate thing in the world!
  12. Hi Andy - I didn't think they had forecast much in the way of precipitation because the front was fragmenting as it came in - or have they updated the amounts of PPN around?
  13. I would say you are just a bit too far west - you would be more into the mild sector as it pushes in. If it is moving further South than predicted there is the chance the colder air could also be further South - might be a few surprises later on tonight. It was snowing with me in Tongwynlais earlier but now drizzle.
  14. Nothing extra overnight and only -1.6°C - so not the major drop in temperature that was predicted up here. Looking in the mod thread it looks like we are, yet again, going to be mostly unlucky with regards to snow. We require a dramatic short term upgrade and the mild sectors to be over cooked - the cold needs to undercut much more. Not over yet but getting close to the time when we need a bit of help!
  15. I think any expectations of widespread snow for Wales next 48 hours need to be tempered a little and the bar taken down a few notches. Certainly be some accumulations at higher elevations but this is typical in these situations where showers dry up - temperatures will drop quickly overnight - ice being a main problem. This lower temperature should enable any activity coming in, although not very organised, fall as snow. Lets hope same as this morning, a few people on here wake up with another white surprise.
  16. Thanks Paul - working ok now. For some reason I wasn't able to get the more reply options working and unable to attach. Thanks for the help.
  17. -1.2°C last night - risen to +1.3°C at 9am - lying snow of around an inch, clear and sunny with scattered clouds. Snow slowly melting, little breeze. Pressure risen to 1011Mb
  18. I think looking at some of the posts the elevation is key to who is getting snow at this early stage. Not far down road from me there is no lying snow. Next week it might not just be dependent on elevation but inland location - further east more chance of snow - stalling fronts tend to creep in with milder sectors further west but get filtered as they come inland against the cold. The colder air is supposed to work its way in so lets all hope it becomes entrenched so Wales can have a snowfest
  19. Are images not allowed to be pasted into replies etc? Cannot find any way of doing it - when pasting it states not allowed - so my assumption is that images cannot be pasted in?
  20. Not a bad start as has been said - nice little covering - that means two more days getting up with lying snow than I had last winter ! Still looking good for next week, once the cold is here anything can turn up! Too far out to be looking where the fronts will be coming but there should be snow with Wales in the firing line next week.
