  1. The same here rarely post but here's, for a quick and full recovery for you.
  2. Morning blustery still this morning with gusts still sustaining around the 50mph mark. A few icy heavy showers earlier, icy feeling rain driven hard in the wind but not expecting snow this way. Brighter at the moment with patches of clear sky. Wind has veered directly N now. Previously mentioned chest freezer took another wander earlier despite trying to find a more sheltered spot, may try getting to the tip later but reports of trees down around us at the moment so I'll give it time. Take care everyone and have a good day.
  3. Whilst stormy nights are not unusual down this way I've just had to drag myself out of bed and wander out into the backyard to sort out a chest freezer which I'd put out the other day waiting to go to the tip. It had quite impressively been blown several ft and was making its way down the side passage. Fairly consistent 60mph gusts I presume maybe responsible
  4. Morning all. Woke up to the sound of wind. Temp @ 6° wind are nearby EGHQ showing WNW 31mph gusting 43mph, local pressure 993 and falling. light rain. Looks like a blustery day ahead. Take care everyone and have a good day.
  5. Not much to report here this morning. Very still and overcast at around 2000ft. Temperature in the back garden at 6:30am was -1° (Though I doubt the accuracy of my ancient bulb thermometer one day I will get a weather station!). Barely a breath of a breeze. Expecting a band of drizzle/rain later which will in these rather uneventful days have to count as a weather event. Cloud breaking up a little as I type and a hint of sunshine peeking through and the odd patch of blue. Have a good day everyone!
  6. Just wanted to add a few words of thanks to everyone on this thread for all the fascinating posts. As someone who is only just getting a basic understanding of reading the models I don't feel able to offer any educated opinions but love following the discussion and it's helping me learn (normally dashing of to look up some of the things mentioned). Sorry that was a longer thank you than expected!
  7. Having followed the discussions in the model thread and tried to make sense of them myself I would like to add the following observation... It's rather nippy this morning! Temperature 3° (in the shade) Wind NW@16mph Clear skies and sunny. All taken from my back garden just now At least it's feeling seasonal at last!
  8. Well it’s been raining since I woke at 6:30 this morning, heavy rain started around 9 and hasn’t eased. Not much in terms of daylight, dark and brooding. Lots of incidents around the duchy already, mainly flood related, warnings of heavy surface water on roads, at least one road closed due to flooding near me already. Not as many trees down yet as last week, but at least 2 reports on local news. Winds have been variable, steady 35 - 42mph on local weather stations with gusts up to 62, at both Newquay airport and RNAS Culdrose. Local weather team recorded a 70mph gust an hour ago.
  9. Ciara might have departed Sunday but hasn’t felt like it here, yesterday winds didn’t drop much below the mid 40’s with frequent heavy showers of hail and sleet, gusting in the high 50’s and more thunder than I’ve heard here in the last 12 months, one house in par struck by lightning. It’s continued all night into this morning with frequent hail showers driven by high winds, made driving hazardous this morning. During the hail showers Newquay Airport weather station recording gusts in the high 50’s again. Unsettled is the term, I think! As I’ve been typing this gone from blue skies to gradually darkening again, another shower passing through soon.
  10. Wind has picked up herearly in the last hour plus rain looking the models things could get interesting later local weather has storm warning for 85km/h gusts later
  11. Wind has increased here (Cornwall) in the last few hours some ferocious gusts but sun is still managing to peek through the increasing clouds.
  12. Bit of breezy (?) morning here on North Cornwall coast nice and sunny though so far coastguard warnings to keep away from the coast today.
  13. I'm never sure which bit we fall into in the middle bit here but just thought I would report, heavy thunder in Brighton with heavy downpours for the last hour and a quarter. Lightning varying but up to 4 a minute seems to be all around within a mile of where I am. Worst of all wife in hospital waiting for me to visit .................. love is going out in the best (or depending on your view worst) storm of the year and getting soaked to deliver deodorant and clean clothes. I should be at home with tea and biscuits enjoying the show! But oh no............here we go
  14. Okay for anyone looking for thunder look no further than Brighton going rather nutty here right now, lightning around 2-4 a minute, rain increasing, and seems to be affecting mobile networks, and I still have to go out!!!
  15. Just thought would butt in and inform of very heavy rain here in Brighton for the last hour thunder last night and for the last hour no sign of let up at the moment, very dark, very wet, and I need to go out been trying to delay it asap but looks like getting a soaking is inevitable today!!
