Well it well worthwhile giving the car a good wash yesterday and seal (or not), at least I got all the mud and salt off it and from under the wheels wells, sills etc I guess!! lol

Bit colder again outside and more of a wintery mix, but it's so light it's really hard to tell if it's sleet or snow and rain mixed.
-
Seems to have gone colder outside in the last hour, still just raining though.
-
Looking at the weather radar just makes me want to cry, if it was just a few degrees colder we would be buried, but alas this is Manchester so it's just raining!

I have noticed today that the Meto forecasts for next week are showing slightly lower temps than they were yesterday.
-
Nowt here but a bit of slush, in fact less snow on the ground this morning than when I went to bed last night! Oh well.
-
Very lightly snowing again here, so lightly I can only see it in the headlights of a car parked in front of my house.

Hoping that what is currently passing over the Isle of Man will make it here, looks like a lot more than what we just got?

Some interesting variation last night in terms of temperature across the Wirral peninsula. As expected the northwest coast had lows of 0C to -1C (west Kirby, Caldy and parts of Heswall), the south some harsh frost, -5C in Parkgate and Neston for example. Also the eastern side around Bebington, Brombrough etc was around -3C to -4C.
The big surprise was almost -7C recorded in inland Wallasey, and generally the north coast had -4C to -5C so very cold for the peninsula but also some massive differences in relatively short distances.
Those are cold numbers for the Wirral for sure, being from Bebington originally I can remember pretty much always being disappointed by the lack of cold compared to everywhere around us, with a few well known about years in the 80's and 90's of course.

Looking at the weather radar, is that more possibly heading our way from the Irish Sea?

I seem to recall somebody saying that Thursdays event needs the precipitation to reach Northern Ireland to bring us into the game.
Well, it has reached Northern Ireland.
Don't say it, I can't cope with another cycle of excitement and then let down!
Also was only -1 this morning at 7.50am when I left the house, not the coldest night of winter at all.

Making winter tyres a legal requirement would go a long way to solve this.
But winter tyres would only be better than normal ones for a couple of days each winter, most of our winter months they would be worse. What we really need in this country is car manufacturers to stop fitting normal cars with summer performance tyres from new, all cars in the UK should come with all season tyres, if you want high performance ones for the summer you should have to buy them separately.

Thin layer of snow here, not much but it looks pretty, is much more than last year's beasterly gave us (nothing stuck here for that!). BBC weather shows tomorrow to be a purely southern event.
-
Snow picking up again Manc CC, seems to come in waves.
-
Snowing in Manc CC now after raining for a while, not settling as yet.
