It's not stopped raining since I got in from the work at 5.30, if goes cold overnight (as it doesn't feel it at the mo), I fear I may have trouble opening my car in the morning!

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Friday will see bright spells with occasional snow showers and a fresh northwesterly wind. Drier but cold on Saturday and Sunday, with sharp overnight frosts
our regional forecast fro Friday and Saturday!I've got a 4 day weekend and that looks good to me, maybe a trip up in t'hills over the weekend may satisfy my snow wants!

Light, cold rain in Manchester CC at the mo, doubt we will see any of the white stuff around here tonight but would love to be proved wrong!
-
I'm being hopeful, but not too much so that I see a bit of it, have a 4 day weekend (got loads of holidays to use up!) so I should be able to see some somewhere!!
-
Well the Met Office app on my phone is now showing as sleet for Thursday\Friday which is an improvement on the rain and sunshine it had been showing, so I can still be a bit hopeful can't I?!?!

Happy with this.
Met Office.
"The weekend will continue cold with widespread overnight frosts. Winds should be predominantly from the north or northwest, which could feed wintry showers across northern and western coasts."
I'll bank that!

Well I've just booked myself a long weekend just in case, as when we do ever have any nice snowy weather I'm always stuck in work and miss it. Even if I don't get any at home some of my best friends have just bought a place up in the hills around Ramsbottom (and according to the neighbours they always get a good pasting there!) and my family live in North Wales so I should be able to find some white stuff somewhere!!
-
Well BBC weather said it was a barmy 4-5c at mine this morning so you can imagine my shock when I had to deice the car, almost made me late for work, don't mind though as I love cold and crisp mornings, here's hoping to many more!

what cold spell...all I can see is 4 days of +6c days before we are back into double digits again...damp squib more like
The one being forecast by the Met Office.
UK Outlook for Wednesday 13 Jan 2016 to Friday 22 Jan 2016:
A cold spell is expected to be underway around the middle of next week which will most likely last into the weekend across much of the UK. The weather will tend to vary day to day, with some dry and sunny periods, but also wintry showers which will occasionally merge to give longer spells of rain, sleet and snow. Snow will fall to low levels at times in the north, but also perhaps in the south too. Temperatures will be below average with widespread overnight frosts as well as a risk of icy surfaces. As we go through the following week it seems most probable that less cold weather will return as Atlantic weather systems try to move across the country bringing strong winds and outbreaks of rain.

I did say apart from feb1991blizzard.
I know, I meant to say and others in other threads, I think it's more the general tone, a lot of people are still very upbeat though about the prospects (myself included), I have been caught short with fuel for my stove in the living room though, with it being so mild we've hardly had it lit and thus haven't thought about getting anything delivered, will have to rectify that this weekend!

Who (other than perhaps Feb1991blizzard) is being despondent....people keep saying this...I dont see it, I see ppl saying its not as a good a run as a few days ago.....but thats just a fact.
feb1991blizzard 2,416
Another crap run, another nail in the coffin.
There are others in other threads as well.

I can't understand people being so despondent at the moment, I am no weather expert but enjoy reading the MOD thread etc, IF's Twitter post that has been quoted in there sums it all up perfectly, no one is sure what is going to happen as all the models are struggling with what is going on and the Met's latest outlook shows they have no idea really either!
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Further rain, sleet and snow in the north on Sunday. Otherwise showers or longer spells of rain; some snow in the north. Colder conditions spreading erratically southwards through next week.

gone VERY heavy here now!
-
is coming down pretty well in Manc CC now (I'm in work today! ) but the ground is very wet so I'm not holding my breath for it to stick.
-
It's been a lovely sunny afternoon here in Manc CC but it's VERY cold when that wind blows, ice cold, brrrrrrrrr
-
Noticed that the Met office warnings has been extended to cover the NW for snow showers overnight
Was about to post the same thing! Now if they could just upgrade those pesky "wishbone" ones for Sun and Mon!!!
-
Well I woke to a couple of cm's on the cars, roofs, some on the ground etc, not too much to get excited about but it is the most I have had laying so far this winter!
-
Polar Lows are very interesting game changers.. if they occur, they can completely change outlooks, throwing them into disarray.. for example if the Polar Low made it down into our region tonight/early tomorrow.. then it could introduce a colder wind source the models picked up on.. Polar lows rarely deliver anything but snow.
It looks amazing!

Oh I sooo want this to hit us, would make my winter!

Well if nothing else it's a lovely, bright and crisp winters day in Manc CC, really pleasant!
Also I can see plenty of white covering on the hills around Manchester from my office windows, might have a drive up tomorrow when I'm off and go and see my friends who have recently bought a "fixerupper" in t'hills around Ramsbottom!
