Year on year for quite a while been the same here. Still nothing yet, not even a wee flicker...........

Certainly would agree with that. I can recall some really good thundery outbreaks around here which lasted for many hours. The storms of the past few days here seemed to have flew past in well under an hour.

Thunder began here in Motherwell around 6 this morning, woke me up and for the next 40 minutes or so we had sporadic lightning and some loud thunder. Fleeting torrential rain though for the most part just heavy, bad enough to spring a leak in my roof. Still, that's two fairly tame but nevertheless thunderstorms in the past three days - more than in the previous three years and the best one I've seen for about 9.

Looks promising. Hopefully that'll hold and we'll at last see some interesting action over here. Haven't seen a decent storm in our area since 2006!

Newbie here! Last night we got very little in the way of thundery activity at my location (Motherwell) though some only a few miles further east saw quite a bit. Hoping for much more this evening, forecast this morning seemed to indicate that early-mid evening time storms should roll up from the South (those currently approaching the south-west of England). Most forecasts I've seen don't support what the local BBC have predicted though, wondering what our chances are of faring better this evening (and again Saturday/Sunday supposedly).

End of the week & weekend storm risk

Quick question. Here in Motherwell, just south-east of Glasgow, we've been almost completely starved of storms for a good number of years now. Set to continue, or should we cop one over the weekend?
