Was out running at about 1.30 yesterday afternoon in the rain. Had the thermals on it was that chilly! Today, looking at my back garden, you'd think there hadn't been a drop which I guess underlines how dry it's been prior to that.

Looks like here it'll turn into what Michael Fish used to call a typical british summer, two fine days then a thunderstorm. Today lovely.....

It's snowing in Motherwell, beginning to lie a little, but given we had over an inch of rain overnight it'll not be much. Few miles up the road and Cumbernauld is a white out. Snow fair.

Could this be that once in a blue moon snowfall for here? Oh please........!

I recall back, oh, must be 86 or something like that there was a Forth-Clyde streamer. Started early morning, absolute howling gale and constant snow showers for about 6 or 7 hours. Went from nothing on the ground to over a foot easily and that was in Viewpark area (near M74/M73 junction). Something like that would be most welcome.

I imagine those experts at Exacta Weather are about to promote an epic ice age.....again.....

Knew that'd happen. All looked great until it got half way down the Grampians then this big hole appeared. Gets by here and it fills in. Not a flake overnight and now almost clear

There could be a warning like that for all of Scotland and @Hairy Celt and @Hawesy would still miss out.
You can be guarenteed Motherwell would definetly be on that list too.........-)

Friday now subject to Met Office snow warnings for just about the whole of Scotland in the northerly flow - two slightly different warnings north and south of the central belt. Not convinced about my own location as it notes that
"Some inland areas, sheltered from the northerly wind, seem likely to escape most of the showers."
But it looks promising for some parts, and it does seem to have the 'wishbone' effect on the showers very far south (northern England).
Model Thread is also getting excited about upgrades for Friday, which perhaps augurs less well!
As they say, this. So many times I've seen heavy snow forecast and we miss out due to being "sheltered from the Northerly wind". Fed up with that!

Yes, sudden dark skies and a sleety shower in East Kilbride just now.
My home address is just outside the Met Office's warning area, but given the tendency of showers not to stay within strict boundary lines, I would hope that I'm still in with a chance of seeing something later this week.
I'm with you on this. Hopeful of seeing something but so tired of this sort-of set up promising much but delivering actually nothing but mainly blue skies and quite a chill. However, I do recall the substantial snowfall of about six years ago now, it came courtesy of a front moving directly north to south and fell over only around 4 or 5 hours - and created utter chaos.

As the squall went through this morning around 7 had one pretty vivid flash of lightning towards Wishaw. Pretty wild for a spell. That's about as much lightning as I've seen all year to be honest........

Worry not. Exacta weather has been banging on about an ice age hitting the UK all Autumn. Every year. Bound to get it right one of these decades....
It's definetly true. Apart from 2010/11 here, we've seen so little snow and been mostly mild. And thunderstorms have been very scarce.

What a difference a day makes - take a look at this today!

Canaries getting a fair battering at the moment. Sat24 shows a very large development just to the south of Tenerife http://en.sat24.com/en/ce and getting bigger all the time. Nice view of the coming storm here https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/espana/canarias/santa-cruz-de-tenerife/playa-troya.html

We managed 1 solitary flash of CC about 20 past 11 last night during a relatively brief heavy downpour. That was it. And, for this entire year thus far.

About to go out for a run in a quite humid and muggy Motherwell. Forecast has us getting some interesting stuff this evening and overnight. Worth getting the camera at the ready?

This could be the one we've been waiting on up here for over 10 years! Not had a decent storm in all that time. Seems to be more interesting period 12-3am for just east of Glasgow, anyone confirm?
