Just to let you it's sleeting here.
My thoughts so far for Sheffield rain and perhaps some sleet at first this changing rapidly to rain. So a wet night and day for Sunny Sheffield. The place really to be is north Yorkshire you should get a covering and this should last a fair while. Further south than that probably more sleet than snow away from the higher ground and will be turning to rain during the morning. North Yorkshire should see it turning to rain around lunch time.
GFS has the front coming in much quicker than shown on the met app. If it is correct rain should arrive sometime after nine tomorrow evening. Just had a look at John Holmes guide and we now have a marginal situation where earlier yesterday we didn't. By morning it will be rain for all though and if we're very lucky may scrape a few hours may scrape a few hours overnight although this very small chance and more likely in the peak district. Chances still very small and the next few runs may swing either way.
Dusting showing on the car and fiddle web cam.
Monday looking better again although the front is moving in much quicker so at the moment I wouldn't be surprised to see Snow in the early hours turning to rain by mid morning. So if you lie in you'll miss it.
This has to be one of the wettest Easter breaks on record although we did have one East where it snowed all day Friday turned to rain Saturday morning then back to Snow Saturday afternoon and snowed until Sunday evening. The rainfall content of that must have been fairly high. Pity I don't have my fathers figures on hand.
Sunny Sheffield up to 3.8C -2.4C below normal so will finish either on 3.8C or 3.7C depending on today's high anything above 4.7C with leave it as it is. Unless the sun comes out which is unlikely so won't go higher than 3.8C. Rainfall 135.6mm 212.9% of average 2nd wettest March on record but won't beat the 149mm recorded in March 1981
Slight ray of hope for Monday with cold uppers holding on in the early hours but so you may need to get up early to see it unless you're in the peak district. Local forecast has changed to mostly sleet although the snow at 10:00 is unlikely.
Gem and possibly UKMO provide a little hope for Monday. GFS drives a stake straight through the heart Next few runs are vital and hopefully the trend to a quick mild push are reversed.
Well in this case we don't even have -2C uppers. +2 uppers. I guess you went through it and it didn't give the answer you want. Sometimes it does go wrong but Monday looks more wet than white.
Conditions better tonight than on Monday. Maybe a surprise for some.
Some sunny spells in the afternoon brought the temperatures up to 8.8C but triggered a heavy rain hail shower just now
Max temp 8.8C now 5.3C, Barometer 999mb falling, Wind F3 ENE, Rainfall 1.8mm
Well under netweather extra the gFS is the only source available. Even looking at Fax chart indicate that something is amiss with the 528 damn line far to north for us.
Try Johns guide yourself and see what you come up with
Some early sunshine this morning after 9 then cloud started building and it has been mostly cloudy since ten and on the cold side
Max temp so far 6.8C now 5.7C, Barometer 1001mb steady, Wind F2 ESE, Rainfall Trace
Good job I wasn't looking at John Holmes will it snow guide which away from the North and North East England bring us a flat zero. This has used me very well and is normally correct. Of course the predicted air conditions maybe different on the day. Conditions are more favorable tonight and tomorrow than on Monday.
One thing I haven't mentioned is that the heavier rainfall is transferring west. If this continues the rain won't be heavy enough to aid in evaporitive cooling so it will be a rain only event away from the peak district.
Sunny Sheffield still at 3.7C -2.4C below normal. Rainfall 112.7mm 176.9% of average. 4th wettest march on Record for us. Unlikely to beat 140mm set in 1981 but 1969 with 119.9mm is within reach looking at the forecast.
Should be good for north Yorkshire only a brief period of snow for us and a raid change to rain during the morning as we lose the cold uppers. A short event all in all pity the low pushes the mild air so quickly.
12oz GFS sticks to a rapid switch to milder conditions however North Yorkshire will probably do alright out of this. South Yorkshire will see a brief wintry spell becoming rapidly confined to higher peaks before turning to rain there as the mild push continues. UKMO agrees with the rapid push north with it's 12oz run so the chances of a interesting bank holiday Bank Holiday Monday for South Yorkshire is declining.
Ground temps are actually higher than the beast two 6.5C compared to 6C so will again readily melt from below. Whether is going to be as polluted is another matter. Moving on if the GFS 06oz is right we will be going from Winter to Late spring in 24 hrs. From thick jumpers and Snow Shovels to T shirts. We shall see.
Early sunshine now gone and it's dull and cold with the odd spot of rain. Nice sunny walk near Beverly this morning however.
Max temp so far 8.7C now 6.9C, barometer 1003mb falling, Wind F2 Variable, Rainfall Trace
