Pity we didn't have a few days of sharp air frosts before hand. It would have stuck even quicker. Sun trying to come out here.

Below freezing here however the ground is warm so melt from below, there is a bit pollution in the snow so lowering the melting point. This morning the bottom layer of snow was mostly slush I didn't have to grit the driveway as soon as moved the top lair it melted straight away. Yesterday it was minus two and it was still melting even in the shade. Until it got a big dump overnight that is:)

Sunny Sheffield down to 3.1C -2.2C below normal. Rainfall 88.7mm 139.2%. Rainfall actually a bit low due to snow blowing out of the rain gauge in main beast from the east. -
Had to dig my way out of my house before a walk round the district. The road was cleared by a plough as I cleared my paths. Some local roads shut but muppets ignoring the signs.

LOL bbc managed to send there reporter to a place without much snow. Perhaps they couldn't get to places where theres proper snow

Very cold plenty of snow guessing 8cm to 14cm drifted so difficult to tell. Temp -2.9C low -3.3C, Barometer 1017mb rising, Wind F3 ENE, Rainfall unmeasured

Plenty more in the north sea waiting to come and a possible push from the south east of a longer spell of snow.

Snowing heavily again now winds too light for blizzard conditions but still pretty nasty out there. No one been up our road for bit but should be passable with a gentle foot.

Well it's a bit like why does one heavy band of rain make it over the Pennines and another one doesn't. -
Probably around 1/2 inch here heavy shower to the north of us at the moment. Already thawing on our patio belief or not.

Probably blow away again for you overnight. I'm looking at the snow and saying to it now bloody melt at -2.8C.

3rd to 4th heavy snow shower of the day now total cover. Earlier melt turning to ice on the pavements may have something to measure tomorrow morning. Looks like a fair dry slot snow before the next shower. However with the wind things move quickly.

Just getting the edges of snow showers here winds swung more to the north east. Struggling to settle away from the grass though.

A very cold with flurries at first turning to snow showers these heavy for short while between 12 and 2 and since then have been lighter. A slow thaw of snow even in shade despite the low temps Max temp -0.6C low -2.4C, barometer 1015mb falling, Wind F4 ENE, Rainfall 1mm melted snow.

Snow showers becoming heavier as the morning went little of the sunshine so the snow has a lot of pollution in it which is why it's melting even at -1.8C. Finally got a full covering but only a few millimeters which probably go very quickly in a few minutes as the sun comes out and temperatures lift Max temp -0.6C, now -2.2C low -2.2C, Barometer 1016mb steady, Wind F4 E, Rainfall 0.4mm melted snow.

Nice right now not often you get the coldest temp at midday below zero -1.9C right now. Probably 5mm of cover needs some more. Correction now -2.1C

-1.8C and melting as soon as it stopped. Another shower coming so we've finally gained a little in cover hopefully the next one will provide proper cover.
