Think their could be upgrades from the meto soon, cold might have been underestimated, big day coming up.
Unfortunately more likely to be downgrades after last nights runs etc

Good for the North...Doesn't exactly hint at a cold blocked pattern with wet and milder interludes in the south, in fact sounds pretty much as the latter part of GFS runs have been showing for days now.
Excatly ktom good for north but for the rest of uk it’s a poor update oh well good luck to northern folks

UK Outlook for Monday 7 Jan 2019 to Monday 21 Jan 2019:
The second week of January will probably be settled and generally dry across the south, with variable amounts of cloud and overnight mist and fog patches. In the north there may be more changeable weather at times, with occasional wet and windy weather bringing a risk of gales and hill snow. By mid-month there is a greater chance of colder weather, with a increasing likelihood of frost, fog and snow, with these conditions probably continuing for the rest of the period. Despite the potential change to much colder weather during mid-January, some milder, wet and windy interludes remain possible throughout the period.
Not a great update want upgrades but just not happening yet but I feel upgrade s will arrive soon

UK Outlook for Saturday 15 Dec 2018 to Saturday 29 Dec 2018:
As we head into the middle of December there are signs that it will turn unsettled again with more generally wet and windy weather affecting the UK. This will bring heavy rain and gales or severe gales, with a chance that it may even turn stormy at times. Overall, it is likely to be mild across much of the country with snow tending to be confined to hills in the north. However, in any drier interludes it will turn colder.
Dreadful update oh dear I’m resigning myself to a bitter January and February now merry Xmas to all posters

UK Outlook for Wednesday 28 Nov 2018 to Wednesday 12 Dec 2018:
This period is likely to begin with a continuation of the mainly dry conditions, with variable cloud and some sunshine, once morning fog patches clear. However, there will be an increasing chance of some more unsettled interludes developing, with showers or longer spells of rain spreading to many areas at times. Temperatures are likely to be below average overall, with a greater incidence of frosts than usual and any milder interludes likely to be short lived. With more generally colder temperatures, there will be an increased chance of snow during spells of unsettled weather, especially for the north.
It’s certainly a upgrade and more upgrades will follow in next 48hrs to include eastern areas

As suggested by recent meto updates drier towards the SE as the jet fires away to our North so pretty much a contiunation of the mind numbing pattern that persisted through the summer..ie the NW gets the majority of the wet stuff.
Morning yes little disappointed with weather for next week or so but as bobbydog says earlier vortex a key player so maybe by mid November things will change to our coldies favour let's see what models bring us today in later stages surely us coldies deserve a 3 Month blizzard

Just to bump this back up to the top....
They forecasted unsettled/wet/windy for today. In actual fact high pressure is dominating with little or no ppn. Moral of the story is not to put too much emphasis on these forecasts, they cange as often as the models do.Met office have been absolutely useless why bother they can't decide one day to the next those super computers must not have a plug on them yet

Has this been linked to already? Apologies if it has. Big call from accuweather - basically writing all of February off as a wind and rainfest, with a few named storms. I haven't seen anyone else go for this prediction! A tad premature you'd think with the impending SSW and the chaos that may bring?Sounds lovely anything is better the the boring crud with had in last week

UK Outlook for Tuesday 24 Jan 2017 to Thursday 2 Feb 2017:
On Tuesday and Wednesday most places should be dry with sunny spells, although there is a risk of fog at times in the south. It will be windier in the west with outbreaks of rain gradually moving east. Temperatures will be quite cold for many, but milder later in the west. During the rest of the period, milder, unsettled conditions are expected to affect most of the country. Bands of rain will cross the country, interspersed with brighter, showery interludes. It will become windy with gales likely at times, especially in the north-west. The heaviest rain is likely in northern and western areas, with drier conditions in the south-east. Temperatures should be around average to mild, although there is a low chance of the south-east keeping colder than average conditions.

Considerable uncertainty are clearly the watch words. If all 51 ECM members are still showing an Easterly tomorrow then I think they will change it for sure.
To be honest a very disappointing update for us coldies going by that I'm sure they think the Atlantic is going to take over I was hoping ecm would win out
-
I really hope ukmo is right but part of me saying the gfs will be right so let's hope Ecm carries on the positive vibes that the ukmo has brought us
