Got to admit not the update most expected but when met office were saying end of November early December was the time they expected blocking to be strong but seems they got it badly wrong as models seem to bring Atlantic back in seems every good chart is over 10 days away oh well as not in winter yet I'm still expecting a much better winter than the last 3 and I'm sure most areas of uk will see snow before new year starts

UK Outlook for Thursday 1 Dec 2016 to Thursday 15 Dec 2016:
There is considerable uncertainty for this period. Further spells of more unsettled weather are likely at times, with greatest likelihood of rain in the south, this perhaps wintry on the leading edges of some rainbands further north. Further settled weather is probable across the north as we start December and this regime may spread further south too. It will be rather cold for most though, especially in the north, where there will be an increased likelihood of frost and fog.
Not the kind of update us coldies want to see looks pretty much same as last Dec

Looking at the ecm output seems we may be in for a late BBQ session. Nice to see Ian f giving us an insight into the models thankyou for that. Does seem like we may be entering a milder more zonal outlook as we head into November. But as we all know things can change rapidly in model variations at the moment.
Seems that way as Ian is so helpful on this site for guys like me who are hopeless at charts etc but everyone on here makes this site what it is the best around weather your a cold lovely or mild hot etc everyone respects each other posts cheers all

well i've been keeping an eye on the models for the past few days (well actually all winter- but like everyone else, im now hoping we get a miracle and i am the eternal optimist). however, in the real world, though we are facing a couple of chilly weeks, winter will not be arriving in force, to throw us into a media hyped 'snowmageddon'. if you want to see snow falling from the sky, thats a good probability. if you want (like me) a winter wonderland then give up now. we do have this label of "coldies" which is used often to describe winter lovers. now i do appreciate that some do like the cold but i just want snow. a proper winter. a bit of frost is pretty in the morning but today was the final realisation for me. i was out in the garden today making a bunk-bed ladder for a customer. the weather was dry and sunny which meant i could do it outside rather than my workshop and i actually had to take my jumper off because i was too hot!
to be honest, i'm not a 'coldie' i'm an extreme weather fan. bone chilling cold, deep snow, powerful storms, floods, thunderstorms and tropical heat. that does it for me. the whole range. chilly with a bit of sleet does not.
sod the cold spring, if its not going to snow, the cold can bugger off and let the sun shine!
