  1. I had not seen that the camera was being looked for but did hear the the local emergency planning team were requesting people , unless necessary to keep away. As with Moore they need to be able to help the townfolk of the communities affected to help rebuild their lives. We were actually in Childress before we actually knew about what happended to Team Twistex. When I say chill a liitle i mean come to terms with what happened. Tom
  2. We are checked in at the Big Texan and will see what brews up later but for now we are going to chill out a little. Tom
  3. Although there are possibilities out west in New Mexico it would us with a lot to do tomorrow because we will need to be in central Kansas and so.we are heading to Amarillo. We will book in and see if we can catch something that develops out from the southwest. I will turn on the stream as we go. we are with out doubt very down today and finding it hard to deal with this mornings sad news. Tom
  4. Another second clip of the El Reno tornado Tom
  5. A short clip that shows the mile wide tornado Tom
  6. Words fail me and it didnt matter how experienced you were the storm, the road network and advice given by local radio/TV stations meant that we were not masters of our own destiny. Paul made a number of decisions which kept us just south of the tornado however it took all of our experience to navigate away from this monster storm. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=104525091581377438622.0004646329629eb4ca691 The main routes south were gridlocked and all the other roads ended at the river. I am so sad at the lost of one of this team and last night heard a seasoned chaser cry when he heard this news. Tom
  7. It went from a simpson cloud to a monster in such a short time. The roads were bumper to bumper and no one could go anywhere when the tornado hit a lot of cars where sitting ducks. Tom Hi Johnny boy Hope all is well.
  8. A long way to go before I get anywhere in Arron's league. Managed ok yesterday though and that was important.
  9. yes yesterday did cause a few raised eyebrows . How ever I do not think the chasers alone were the problem. All traffic from the interstate was diverted south because they thought the storm was moving to the north east but it didn't. The other issue was the TV channel that advised people to evacuate their homes, which they did and totally added to the gridlock. And yes there were some twits around. The storm itself was not your normal type supercell and created a low all of its own and was affected by the OFB which sat across Oklahoma. This caught a lot of chaser out. Tom.
  10. setting off for Childress but nothing to see so will not bore people with hours of endless highway. Tom
  11. Now looking towards upslope storms in New Mexico for tomorrow. Will turn streaming on once we are on the way again. Tom
  12. Not really chasing today Unless of course some thing pops up whilst we are driving. we are heading towards Childress
  13. Stream on and just about to go passed the SPC Norman Tom
  14. well to say the least yesterday was interesting and the storm caught other people and chasers by surprise. It went from virtually clear skies to a mile wide tornado within 30 minutes. I did video what I could but needed all my concentration to negociate all the country lanes that we had to go down to ensure that we too were not part of the casualty list. I40 closed traffic diverted south, people apparently told to evacuate. Lines and lines of cars bumper to bumper. Sorry about quality of video but have not had time to edit it. mile wide tornado Tom
  15. Whilst we were sat south of El Reno on highway 81 a large wedge tornado crossed about quarter of a mile north of our location.
  16. It doesnt surprise us that there were people trapped in their cars The I40 was closed and all the traffic was directed down all the small roads and everywhere was grid locked Anyone sat in those lines of traffic where stuck if a tornado came through we used streets and trips to wend our way out of trouble. Chase now really ending We are upset to hear that there have been fatalities it was a nasty storm and caught some people by surprise. The river also had a part in making life difficult because all south options were dead ends God bless Streets and Trips .
