  1. look at all that greenery...trees have been bare here for a month now and snow has been on the ground for over a week
  2. Back in the 1970s the vast majority of children walked to school..today the vast majority don't so that argument is probably null and void these days..here last year the people of Alberta voted to keep the clocks changing and voted against keeping BST all year round
  3. does it?...living where i do and its already covered in snow..i find its still pitch black at night even with a ton of snow on the ground..you only get that light reflection and that orange glow when it is actually snowing
  4. we get our fair share of colder than average months here ..obviously due to be in a continental climate you can have huge swings from one month to the next or a run of 6-12 months that are either above or below normal to the point having an average month is pretty unusual
  5. not really getting towards the end of October could be +20c one day and -20c a few days later
  6. which would beat the record for the UK which occurred in 1947 according to the Met Office...The deepest snow ever recorded in an inhabited area of the UK was near Ruthin in North Wales during the severe winter of 1946-47. A series of cold spells brought large drifts of snow across the UK, causing transport problems and fuel shortages. During March 1947 a snow depth of 1.65 metres was recorded.
  7. Lucky you...cold dark and cloudy here -11c
  8. Yes went on yesterday ..likely will stay on until mid April
  9. snow has arrived on queue ..5-15cm forecast for today
  10. High of 22c today...high of -2c on Monday
  11. and what is the reality of what we face? Yes the world is warming but what is the true reality of a warmer world? Epoch wise we are still in an ice age don't forget
  12. yep it is much sunnier in the main during the winter months here ..which helps...but when it is cloudy and cold -30c in the depths of winter it can be really depressing. Thankfully that doesn't happen to often
  13. sunrise here is now past 8.10am ..which is pretty much later than it ever gets anywhere in the southern half of the UK at the darkest point of the year ..will still lose close to another 4 hrs of daylight before the solstice
  14. actually i would prefer if the clocks stayed on GMT here all year round.
  15. clocks go back here in November and go forward again in early March
  16. even though i live in Edmonton the answer is no..October has been unusually warm both day and night
  17. to me looking form the outside and the all the precursor in place ..if i would give odds..it would be for the UK ..mild/very mild 1/2 on.. Average 2/1 against and cold/very cold 33/1
  18. i wont be buying an EV anytime soon at least the next 15 years..they are totally impracticable for my location..i still believe Hydrogen is the way to go i would switch tomorrow if i could...im sticking with my petrol car thanks very much
