  1. another sunny day with a high of +7c..only had 1 ice day this November and 0mm of precipitation..last year for context in a pretty average Nov we had 22 ice days.
  2. very much an 80s kind of winter for the UK in my opinion..maybe a slightly less cold version of 1985
  3. yes almost unheard of..i think there has only been one recorded green Christmas in Edmonton that was in 1997..funnily enough Canadians call it a black Christmas
  4. Here In Edmonton we are on course for the first November with no recorded snow falling since 1906..there is no snow in the forecast right out to mid December ..."im dreaming of a green Christmas"
  5. dont see anything but a basin wide event right now as 1+2 have warmed back up to +2c again over the last few days
  6. bear in mind in mild weather it often windy too which adds to the chill ...when its cold and sunny there is often little in the way of wind
  7. im 100% sure we are locked into a warm dry winter here in Western Canada ..which can only be good news for the UK and Europe as that's where the cold will go this season...happy sledging
  8. Nov 2023 is shaping up to be being very similar if not identical to Nov 2009 here thus far...both very mild dry and no snow
  9. Feel cheated that Nov 1994 has been downgraded from the only above Nov 10c at 10.1 to now at 9.9c ...why ???????????
  10. call me when it -40c with a wind-chill of -55c then we can talk...lots of love Edmonton Canada
  11. CBA ..way too many constraints as to render it pointless ..plus it not an ideal year if you are forced into including weather you dont like
  12. you cant have an ideal year if you attach arbitrary conditions to it
  13. Currently on course for the warmest Nov on record here..been exceptionally mild and dry and reached +15c over the weekend..doesn't look like there is anything particularly cold on the horizon either..had 0mm of precip thus far this month
  14. did it not? thought it was the warmest Dec on record and the warmest winter month on record?
  15. was bored so i picked out some years that IMO were a good match for the ENSO..1957, 1965. 1972, 1991 & 2009..from this none were particularly mild or cold with the exception of 2009 ..if anything all those years winters were on average rather cold overall.
  16. this is a non sensical argument when talking about reducing emissions globally you cant change the past and give the biggest emitters a "free pass" based on what happened in the last 100 years ..so you are saying let them belch out co2 until they catch up to the historic per capita output of the historic output of western countries (who by the way were not aware 100 years or 50 years ago to the extent of damage that was being done) .. you seem to be happy to let China etc to keep increasing their emissions for the next 20 years as you state above ..this will only result in blowing through any ceiling of 1.5c or 2.5c or 5c ..tell me what difference it will make in the grand scheme of things when the likes of UK (whose emissions have been falling year on year since 1990) reach 0% emissions but the amount of emissions globally still keeps rising for the next 20 years?? ..its like clammering to the fire brigade to put out a fire in your shed whilst your happy to let your house burn down
  17. not so amazing lol ..better than wind and rain i suppose Edmonton's average daytime high hits 0°C, a trend that could span 100+ days - The Weather Network WWW.THEWEATHERNETWORK.COM It will be 116 days before Edmontons average high cracks the freezing mark again
  18. Until you stop giving China and India a free pass then you are p*****g into the wind im afraid
  19. been a spectacular November here so far ..been mostly sunny and very mild no cold or snow...looks likely to stay that way for another week at least
  20. im a morning person so for me its sunrise i look for not sunset..sunrise doesnt turn the corner here until Jan3rd
  21. if i was living in the UK i would want the strongest blocking signal to be further east around baffin island and into Greenland..rn it looks too far West into central Canada
