my position is this: The world is warming there is no denying that human activities are wholly or a large part of that warming agreed a warmer world would lead to worldwide catastrophe and threaten the very existence of mankind in the next 50 years ..now here is where you have lost me..who is to say that a warmer world is a bad thing or at what point does warming threaten the global eco system..is it 3c or 5c or 10c? we have no historical data set showing a massive ecological disaster caused by a warmer world save the mass extinction of 250million years ago to my knowledge. Also who is to say that mankind isn't intelligent enough to reverse the warming in the next 50 years ..lets be honest in the goodness of time fossil fuels will become obsolete anyway due to the developing of more efficient forms of cheap and limitless energy (it wont be batteries, solar or wind) once AI reaches the point of singularity i believe the whole issue of global energy and global warming will disappear and be just a footnote in history. on that note AI is a bigger threat to Humanity than Global warming

Im surprised no one has mentioned July 1994...i wont but someone else can because the rules are dumb and will all know there is no touching 1976 & 1995 no matter how you spin it. -

Technically i dont think 1981 was a white Xmas ..all the snow of Dec 81 fell before Christmas day from memory and Dec warmed up thereafter ? had it not it would have possibly been the coldest December on record. -
as someone who drives in the snow for 6 months of the year this pretty good advice..stay in low gear and pump the breaks if you start to slide ..do not ever slam on the brakes and or keep your foot on the brake or else you will just continue to slide..let the wheels slowly move in low gear and traction will be recovered quickly.

Snow is massively over rated IMO ..im torn as to which i dislike more rain or snow..rain obviously is a pain as once you are wet it takes while to get dry and everything is just damp and dreary..snow on the other hand is pain due to it being a massive inconvenience to drive around in..shoveling snow is back breaking and time consuming work esp if you have to do it before going to work..dont get me started on walking in snow ..is like walking in sand on the beach after a heavy fall ..and when it get compacted it becomes icy and very slippery.

Crazy warm here today could get to +10c here today..+17c in Calgary wouldn't be surprised to see a +20c somewhere in the south of the province -
China has always suffered massive weather disasters in the past far worse than recent ones...so that is a weak argument..point is you can achieve net zero in the UK and force people into energy poverty but when emissions keep rising then what? are you going to force 2.8 billion Chinese and Indians to do the same?..there needs to be a better way
-
how does this happen ? for example i have said before without China and India onboard you have two hopes..no hope and Bob Hope ..esp when we have statements like this The world's biggest producer of climate-warming greenhouse gases (China) has pledged to bring its emissions to a peak "before 2030", but its construction of new coal-fired power plants has raised concerns that carbon dioxide (CO2) would peak at a much higher level than previously estimated. For Context UK emissions peaked in 1990 at 817 million tonnes and now sits at 331 million China is at 12000 million today and is projected to be at 14000 million in 2030. Globally if all the planets align the best case scenario is a 1-2% reduction from 2019 levels by 2030 a far cry from 50%

i think you mean 2009-10 ..10-11 was a strong La Nina..this El Nino isnt a Modoki yet as it didn't originate in the central basin ..there is however rapid cooling now occurring in the eastern Pacific close to south America which would make it a Modoki..not sure what the atmospheric lag would be for that should it transpire in the next 2 weeks or so..good news for me none the less as Modoki usually produce an early spring here -
