Brentwood cell appears to have run out of puff on blitzortung. The Cb itself still looks pretty good but alas, appears it's the one rumble out of that one for me. Might still get a bit of a soaking to help cool what is undoubtedly another VERY warm and humid day.
I concur. No new strikes on lightningmaps either. Does look like its trying to shift south-west as you said too. So close...
I welcome that soaking too! Very hot and humid here, and not much of a breeze to cool things down!

Seems to me that this Brentwood cell is benefiting from greater steering winds aloft compared to previous cells. Updraft column(s) visibly detached from the splaying anvil and downdraughts! In terms of movement, to my eye it seems to be trying to veer to my W/SW but I haven't had a trained eye fixed on it for long.
Its just crossing the river, but I haven't heard any more rumbles for a while.

Distant thunder again. The brentwood cell is clearly visible to my north although still quite far away. No other nearby cells and sunny and clear here so that has to be where its coming from!
-
That brentwood cell is definitely headed this way and seems to have picked up speed. Its hot and sunny here at the moment although I definitely heard a distant rumble a couple of minutes ago...and just now as I write this .

Your right Windblade and i'm just going to sit quietly and not get so grumpy about it lol
I feel your pain. Before yesterday my last storm was mid april, but before that it was a year ago. Like yourself I was getting pretty down about it but yesterdays events lifted my spirits. Don't lose hope.

21 incidents now reported by West Mids fire , 2 local railway lines blocked due to flooding .
Rain has stopped now , just been out watching the frogs in the garden hopping about , Seems they loved it as much as me .
Ah yes, the frogs, toads, slugs and snails all come out after it rains here and love a good soaking wet ground.

Well, wasn't that exciting......not! One rumble and a bit of rain and thats my bat...
Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. I guess a rumble is better than nothing. Its been a pretty active day so far so don't give up hope just yet.

Ohh, hang on whats this? Fresh strikes over Brentwood, essex. Looks like its heading in this direction, albeit slowly.

hope the T & L has died off heavy rain is much mor manageable
Have the cupboard ready just in case or dive under the stairs if you've got a little harry potter style stair cupboard! When I was a kid and terrified of storms I'd always find a place with no windows to hide in until it had passed. Now of course I'm the complete other way - love storms and can't get enough of them, but I remember what I used to be like when I was frightened and can sympathise with you.

Dodged all the showers yesterday but finally took a direct hit, are the London wide?
Looks like most parts of london got something a few hours ago. I heard some rumbles and saw a bolt of IC in tower hamlets just before 3pm. My home in bexley also got two storms earlier hence the flooded slip road on the way home.

My northwest London dump hole has just been floodedViolent thunderstorm and two hours of torrential rain saw to that. Melons have drowned too
Oh man thats bad. I forgot to mention the slip road coming off the A2 was just under 1 ft of water, I kid you not. Stuck the hazards on and crawled through at walking pace!
-
As I arrived home about half three there were cells to my west, north and east. The eastern cell was clearly a fully developed cb with clear visible anvil and gave a nice distant rumble as I got out the car. Its gone all quiet and calm since, although its extremely muggy here. Everything on the radar that was around here seems to have died. I'm wondering if the convergence zone has shifted north west?

Heading for home now. Lets hope there's more to come!

I'm just next to Cannon Street station.
Ah right, you're just west of me. I just looked out to the west and it looks black as hell over there. Heard a few rumbles and just saw a flash of fork lightning behind Canary Wharf. Tried to capture it on my phone but it was too quick for me!
Enjoy it mate, it looks pretty active on lightning maps.

Just had/having a thunderstorm in C London at the moment, rain absolutely biblical with sporadic thunder and lightning.
Where abouts are you mate? I'm in tower hamlets and although we had a deluge earlier its dry at the moment with cb to my north.
-
Clouds clearing a bit to my north in the foreground and I can see some large cauliflowers to my north (and not the home grown kind!).
-
-
So, as quickly as it came, its now gone. Still clouded over and dark to my northwest but stopped raining here and lighter now.
Meanwhile my Mum just texted me and can confirm we have a storm over my house again for the second day in a row while I've been at work. Typical!
-
Its gone torrential here in tower hamlets but no thunder or lightning yet. Getting lighter now as well as the bulk of the cell has passed over but still chuckig it down at the moment. Don't think this one's going to drop the goods but it looks like there's an active cell just north of chelmsford and tracking this way so we might get that in a while with some luck!
-
Raining heavily here now and gone very dark. I'm heading to the roof...
-
Fresh strikes in rainham just to my west on lightningmaps. Netweather radar showing two cells heading straight for me. Come on!

After yesterdays change in direction where are todays storms due to head?
From what I can see I think the wind is blowing from the north east today (at least in my neck of the woods) so I'd expect any storms to travel south-westwards.

Looks like its headed straight for us again Harry. We might just get that soaking. Core looks moderate right now. Hopefully it will cool things off.
