  1. Not expecting anything this far inland. There is too much of a northerly component and broken cloud. Draw a line From Blackpool to Birmingham and those on it and to the west of it are good to go. Those on the east.. Dry and bitter. This mornings Snow hasn't melted in the slightest here so I won't complain
  2. I know, you should of seen the looks on people faces when I went past, they actually looked scared for me. Learn't my lesson back in March when I lost it on black Ice and ended on morphine and a trip to the hospital with smashed ribs and broken hand.
  3. What a turn around after 5am we got a decent covering... add in un-gritted roads and clear skys before dawn = CHAOS. Been a while since Ive seen cars skidding all over and a big crash. Not sure how I got back up here on my scooter... back end went a couple of times. Squeeky bum time for sure.
  4. Absolute scrap. Nothing most of the night except for a snow shower just now. The tops look a little white though. Bummer
  5. LOL unbelievable that were stuck under a wedge of nothingness still. Only comfort is that big blob of Red in the irish that will coming through the snow gap straight at us!
  6. Yeah we seem to be stuck between minor streamers coming off the North Sea and the main band of ppn but it does look like we will eventually get blasted overnight at some point. Fingers crossed pal
  7. Well conditions are certainly ripe enough now, especially up near the Moorside area. After all the rain we now have a bit of a graupel dusting. NEED PPN URGENTLY
  8. As a long time snow chaser on here it kills me to say "me too for mild". Riding a scooter in this weather is scary stuff.
  9. We have dandruff falling now in Oldham East so the showers although weak are just about penetrating this side of the pennines. Obviously not expecting much but a heavier burst of ppn wouldn't go miss
  10. I am litterally a couple of streets down from there Still pummelling down here.
  11. Looks like I got home from the night shift just in time. Sky has gone dark grey and orange and its pummelling down with huge 50p flakes. Better than last year/ winter already.
  12. Nice covering of snow after some heavy snow showers in Shaw Oldham. Should better on the tops where I live.
  13. Looks like a similar evolution to End of Nov 2010. Where the atlantic linked with HP over the pole, didn't end up a full on Greenland high but more of rubust wedge of HP to north of the UK, more an Icelandic HP. Gave the goods for a lot of people that year. Could be wrong but sure Steve will pull out another date :P.
  14. LOL i was going to add "and they don't source their weather data from the like of Doomy Express". And they don't drop updates out like this willy nilly. Being a huge company they obviously pay Met Office for a professional service
  15. Absolute rubbish those charts. Oldham is in the fairly snow-less zone on them but we do actually get quite an amount over the whole winter. Classic setups that send snow our way are always missed by there forecasts too, I've lost count how many times we are forecast nothing and get hammered.
  16. No idea how this winter will pan out but I was under the impression it will be mild & wet. However the large delivery company I work for has issued this update today and it has been many years since a bulletin like this was dropped out, make of it as you will Interesting
  17. After torrential rain, Sleet and hail here so slightly slushy
  18. Well, this bloody rain doesn't want to give up. Hardly naff all through winter and then none-stop monsoon weather into spring. Watch it dry up when that cold northerly is pulled down this week.
  19. Lol already turned to rain. Flooding by morning. What a joke of a winter we just had. Roll on next soggy assed winter.
  20. Heavy snow up here an HR ago. Calming down alot but already 2-3 inches. Roads are murder and our trailer yard almost at a stand still.
  21. I have to be honest. After viewing the charts over the weekend and then reading the comments this morning I thought winter prospects were heading for a disaster, not to mention the lack of posting from people like Mr Murr etc but I have to say, to me there is some slight improvement on yesterdays modelling at least. No sign of any dreaded bartlett or euro high as some have mentioned in recent days and its just as likely that a Scandi High could develop. I think we are in one of those classic periods of model watching where you need to take anything past T120 with the biggest dose of salt you can grasp. With that said even if FI on this morning models verified it would still feel relatively chilly with no endless mild muck in site and certainly no stubborn highs to our SE / E.
  22. Proper snow here now. Big fat juicy flakes.. gonna be a very interesting day today
  23. Snowing here in Oldham east, even at low levels in Shaw area. A dusting on cars atm.
  24. Absolutely pounding down with rain, monsoon style. Who ever says autumn has been benign is blowing bubbles out of their rectum.
