I've just been up the garden to check around, and make sure the new covers I built are still there, which they are. But, every leaf in the entire county is in the pond. lol

I wish you all joy clearing that lot out! Been there, done that and didn't like it! Wet and soggy just like my garden at the mo. Hubby just walked down to the corner shop to get me some dark chocolate! Mmmm! Worth a million that man is. He reckons it is blowing a real hoolie out there now, it certainly sounds like it with all the banging and clattering outside.

2 hailstorms today here! One was very heavy. Bit of excitement lol. Nice sunshine in between but feeling cold with a maximum temperature of 11C.

You are lucky to have it so warm, here in Bognor is currently 5C despite the home page saying we have 10C! I promise you they lie! It is perishing even the dog never stayed in the garden to chase a squirrel. I think he didn't see it though! :) Time now is 6:55pm. Really hoping for a VERY cold winter for once!

I try to keep busy with as many projects as possible Db. 2018 has been a stressful year, so aquascaping tanks is a good stress reliever, even more so when they up and running. :)

I had a few other jobs to do today, so I didn't quite finish it all. However, most of the hardscape is done.

    2 driftwood pieces
JBL ProScape Volcano Mineral rocks as a base substrate
    JBL Volcano powder on top
    Tropica Aquasoil
    Tropica Powder Soil
    Seiryu stone
Fine white quartz gravel for cosmetic purposes

I have some small touches to add, like some 1 inch seiryu pieces and some shale to sprinkly around when the stone meets the sand.

I have stacks of planting to do tomorrow.

Oh, very nice! What fish you planning to have?

Helicopter back again.. it’s Selsea Coastguard. Twitter said they would be doing patrols so maybe this is what it is. Sea seems to be settling down a little

Heard on twitter Littlehampton lifeboat is out and they reckon Shoreham one too! Hopefully not a kid, adults never have my sympathy when they do something dangerous but kids do, can't blame them so much for not being sensible.

And there’s a few surfers out there at the mo you can se having a great time!!

Hi Polar bear, just passing High tide now in Bognor but really gusty as the web cam tell you if you put sound on. Saw one idiot standing right at the edge of the shingle, saw the wave was bigger than expected, tried to run backwards, fell flat on his back and got covered by the surf. One lucky man not to be dragged into the sea. I bet he wont do that again as it will have been a cold and soggy walk to somewhere he could dry off. Wind chill wouldn't have made it comfortable for him.

It was forecast to be pretty windy slightly ahead of Brian. A small squeeze on the isobars, associated with a warm & cold front. The winds will ease slightly after midnight, before increasing again during the early hours of tomorrow.

Thanks for that Mapantz, I haven't had time today to check out the forecasts so it looks like I was caught with Mapantz ;) down!

  7. Hmmmn... we already have F7 gusting F8 here. Higher than I expected for this early on. I am now wondering if this could possibly get a little higher than the F9 they have forecast for tomorrow? Interesting to watch anyhow.

Hmmn just dropped a little but still interesting that it was slightly higher and I AM surprised at what a large area Brian is covering!

I think the Main reason is the timing. High tide, deep low, strong winds, people need to be warned. Not that it works mind :nonono:

agreed it will feel fairly average autumnal weather, maybe top end of average scale, but ultimately we will feel more of a brunt from Brian than Ophelia.

high tide and big waves is dangerous.

Especially as it is half-term and people not used to coastal conditions will be down at the coast and likely taking stupid risks!

  9. I am by no means even a very good photographer but I DO live less than half a mile from the coast and the only thing I can add, which you almost certainly already know, is that whenever I have used my camera for photographing the sea I have used a clear filter to protect the lens! Amazing how even the smallest amount of salt water can ruin a lens in no time. Good luck and I hope you get some superb shots!

Nar.. 9 is ok for the Solent.. just a good old fashioned stiff breeze ha ha! I remember being out on the harbour in an 8..

in the harbour.. not sailing mind ha ha!!

I agree Polar bear, to my mind it doesn't get interesting until at least a Force 10. I am surprised this 'storm' has been so over-hyped. Surely Storms start out at Force 10 and severe storm at Force 11. It always used to be that Force 9 was just a strong gale, certainly NOT a storm! I remember coming through the Bay of Biscay in a Force 10, now THAT was fun, once we were allowed up on deck at least!

I'm looking forward to something in the 50's. Although, my current record is 50mph on this station - back in February, I have to go back to 2014 to see similar longevity of wind speeds. Hopefully a new record tomorrow!

Isle of Purbeck SHOULD get higher wind speeds than me as where I live is a little bit sheltered from the South Westerly winds. If it turns Westerly though it could be a different matter for me but possibly even worse for you. Likely the road into Purbeck could flood? Just checked and yes, you do have a flood warning so be careful please, high tide could be interesting!

  12. Force 6 winds here, calmest it has been here on the coast here for 36 hours. Not progged to be gale force here until early tomorrow, net-weather giving 53 mph gust for my town but they always underestimate the wind strengths in a storm, so I will expect 55mph gusts at least, most likely when that squall line moves through.
