SollyOlly yes I've done everything else but for whatever reason not got round to buying one myself. I think at the back of my mind it's more hoping I won't need one and it's just a warm mixed summer on the way rather than a hot one and that's probably why I haven't bought one.

Hmmm everything still up in the air this week and into the weekend. Tomorrow looking fairly bright but still a bit of a breeze rattling through, a SE'y by the looks of it which can be quite gusty off the hills for us in the east of the region, so it might not feel all that incredible despite temps around 18c. I do feel like there's been a downgrade as we go further into the week. Yesterday most forecasts were showing 20c and sunny for Saturday now it's 15c and more in the way of cloud even the odd light shower. Still a long way off and could flip back to warm but how many times have we seen a promising change get snatched away/pushed back? But I suppose we should be thankful that temps won't be struggling to get out of single digits like recently and we won't have to put the heating on much if at all. I've been a bit sick of shivering.

Hi guys just wanted you all to know my mum died early last month hence my absence from here, a couple of you know already about the bad news but the rest of you might remember me saying that she had lung cancer and unfortunately she only lasted 3 months after her diagnosis, quickly deteriorated and was gone. Obviously it's been a really tough time for me I was her full time carer and I visited the hospital every day and they let me sleep over towards the end, she suffered a lot, so did I seeing her struggling to breathe, having fluid drained from her lungs and she ended up not knowing where she was towards the end, but she's not in pain anymore, no more suffering that's the main thing. But life will never be the same I feel like part of me has died but I'm ok, better than I was a few weeks ago. You learn to live with grief. Anyway as already said here and across the forum some good news in that it looks like we've finally got some warmer weather to look forward to at long last!

Some wording in the mad thread from the usual suspects about potential moving forward regarding cold, they've been saying it for months. But wouldn't it be just typical that as we get to mid March we get a 2018 mini beast scenario. Where was you all winter? I'd take it for sure but I'd love a mid winter one better.

Rain Lady doesn't surprise me, I.e early signs of plant growth. And when you look at the 20c isotherm touching the southern coast of Spain and we're not even into April never mind May when it usually happens is it any wonder thoughts turn to just how hot it might get this year. Any plume we get could rival the record heat of 2022.

Obviously some snow accumulation charts coming into view now. Been a long day been here there and everywhere so only going to post the harmonie one and it does show reduced accumulation around Manchester but it's not a giant white hole like the last failed event and I feel is more the urban heat effect. So I think there is a bit of a better chance of snow at lower levels this time around. Steady as she goes though.

Don from what I remember it was kind of a last minute thing, well only became apparent it was going to happen around 2 days beforehand. Not like the usual day 10 teases we get that never move into the reliable. -

Don it snowed most of the day, took those pics just after the last dregs fell but it was all gone by late the next morning Don. Like you say better than nothing and was a better fall than anything we've had this "winter!". -

baddie Not an ice day but we had this on the 4th March that year. Temp that day max 1c. Shame it didn't last and wasn't part of a proper cold spell. -
East Lancs Rain i think we should call you serial quoter given how much you quote people on here

Had Worse Yeah that's true, someone living at the coast would probably think 100m is high up but to me it's not as I can miss out on the more marginal stuff at that height where as around your height you can get in on it. A bit like someone 80 yrs old probably thinks a 50 yr old is relatively young but to a 20 yr old a 50 yr old is ancient. Differing interpretations.

In Absence of True Seasons it was standard years ago but unfortunately due to CC it's not anymore, they now have just little reminders of the past you could say and not as long lasting. There was a poster on here from Estonia, forgot his name and he said older people mentioned that winters were way harsher years ago over there.

42c in Sacramento California. Autumn couldn't arrive soon enough after experiencing a Summer inland Mediterranean climate on a par with Andalusia. Had no rain though until the start of November. And wow did it rain on that day, like what we get here, wind with it, lights flickering. I remember looking the weather channel and seeing radar with the wall of rain coming in from the Pacific. Their record high in Sacramento is 46c in September 2022.

SunnyG tornado in London? It might actually make the place look better, shuffle things round a bit, can't look much worse than it already does in most areas of the city. Then again Manchester isn't exactly great either

You'd think with all the ridiculous amounts of rain we've had since July we would see reservoir levels to capacity by now. Instead as a region overall they are slightly down! Only by .1 of a percent but even so. Reservoir levels | United Utilities WWW.UNITEDUTILITIES.COM Details about the levels of water in our main reservoirs - updated weekly
