    The problem is any snow away from high ground won't last a jot, 850's and ground temps aren't cold enough.

    Aye think any chance of lying snow for any length of time has gone for us in the lowlands, hopefully the highlands can get some for our ski resorts before winters end.

    Not seeing anything to suggest widespread cold coming our way and as getting late in season we need 2018 style cold to get any snow to last through the day now even up here.

    Eagle Eye yep can't disagree with you. Harder though to get it in the sweet spot to deliver the cold we are all looking for. Fingers crossed we get something meaningful before winters end.

    RainAllNight hi , yep just looked at the lot and only a few have a Greenland high which the EC46 has been showing for a while. Still a lot showing high pressure to our south, hopefully they are wrong.

    So looks EC46 poor again, no high to our NW just looks our now normal default winter weather. Nothing to get excited about.

    knocker snow that stays on the ground for more than a few hours and the latest ECM run doesnt deliver unless you are lucky to live up a hill.

    That ECM the GFS isnt the greatest for cold till late in the run especiallyfor the south. Are we all discounting it?

    M1245 though they have temps at 4C here which is too high for snow. They always seem to ne too high in any cold weather

    Uncertainty if you look at the 850' s not great coming in from North sea , snow high ground , all academic though that far out.

    Big Gally yep got to agree , need a bit of high ground to have it settle and last through the day

    The ECM is what we are looking for , high migrates to the NW

    northwestsnow EC46 are run at lower resolution than the assembles do would take eith a pinch of salt. They showing the whole of Jan into Feb cold at one point and we know how that panned out. Nothing other than normal winter fayre in the models this evening.

    Well had no ice days , 4 air frosts and a lot of cloudy meh days , roll on spring as don't see anything cold enough coming now to keep snow on ground for any length of time if we see any at all.Will settle for some dry bright cold days.

    @LRD your missing the point , the EC46 gets quoted all the time as if its always going to be correct when we all no its not. On that point is there any stats on how it does perform?

    @LRD so what is they point of it if it gets it wrong most of the time.

    @MJB let's be honest the EC46 are hopeless. The whole of January and February were looking good for cold at one time.
