  1. I will be glad to see the back of these chilly mornings. Roll on the weekend onwards.
  2. The sun has finally come out. I do wish the chilly mornings would do one though.
  3. I personally think we already have enough rain as it is. The problem is that we keep getting stuck weather patterns which seems to have become a lot more commonplace since the beginning of the 2020s. We either get weeks on end of dry weather with very little to no rainfall, or we get a washout for weeks on end with very little in the way of useable days. There isn't much in the way of variety these days. This pattern surely has to break eventually.
  4. I am looking forward to potentially some heat and thunderstorms next weekend. I find dry heat to be more comfortable than humid heat, but the humidity is worth it if it means thunderstorms. Fingers crossed that it actually comes to fruition.
  5. You know it's been a poor spring when we get excited (me included) over the prospect of reaching 23°C in June.
  6. Stuck weather patterns do seem to have become more frequent since the beginning of the decade. It's either raining for weeks on end with very little in the way of useable days, or it is dry for weeks on end with rain being hard to come by. Whilst I'm not complaining after the poor spring we've had, it would be nice to have our varied weather back. The way it was pre 2020.
  7. I voted for 'Brussel sprouts are better', because I like Brussel sprouts. A great addition to a Sunday roast.
  8. Despite the second half of May being largely settled with plenty of sunshine for some areas, it still isn't enough to save what has overall been a poor spring. It took way too long for it to warm up which got tiresome, and on the most part was quite dull. My verdict on each spring month is as follows: March - The most mixed month of the season bringing a mixture of wintry and more springlike conditions. I enjoyed the snow event which happened early in the month, particularly as my area didn't have any snow during the winter. I like the fact that the month was quite varied, but what let it down was the lack of sunshine. It was dull on many days. April - I found this to be the most trying month of the season. Not much sunshine and temps stuck mostly in the 10-14 Celsius range throughout which got boring. A bit of spring warmth and sunshine wouldn't have gone amiss. May - First half of May continued with the dull theme seen throughout most of April, albeit warmer with my neck of the woods seeing its first 20 Celsius day of the year on the 7th. It was nice to see temps finally making progress, but there was a lot of rain and not much in the way of dry useable days. The second half of May was much more settled and warmer with sunshine for many areas.
  9. Now that we are in June, I am looking more forward to the 23°C+ days, plumes and thunderstorms. Though I probably shouldn't hold my breath too much, as interesting weather doesn't seem to happen very often these days. But we shall see!
  10. It was overcast for much of the day and the sky didn't clear until the evening. Won't complain too much at the moment as we have had been doing well for sunshine just lately. Though obviously, more would have been nice.
  11. You never know, providing it gets enough signatures. Petition · Bring our interesting weather back · Change.org WWW.CHANGE.ORG During our childhoods, interesting weather events such as summer thunderstorms, autumn windstorms and winter snow were almost a guarantee. But in recent years we have been seeing less of these and a lot...
  12. Not just thunderstorms, I think interesting weather as a whole is on the decline. Summer thunderstorms, autumn windstorms and winter snow were once almost a guarantee but nowadays are more few and far between.
  13. May 2023 is ending up being quite a topsy turvy month. A dull and sometimes unsettled first half followed by a warm and sunny second half with little to no rainfall.
  14. In my opinion, this May is nothing like the Mays of 2018 and 2020, which were dominated by high pressure and warmish/warm temps throughout. Pretty much every May these days has a warm settled spell at some point, even May 2012 did. Whilst this current spell is nice, it is nothing exceptional for late May.
  15. Be interesting to find out whose house/flat on here got the warmest during last July's heatwave. My bedroom went up to 32.4°C. Very uncomfortable indeed. Outside didn't feel quite as bad though, thanks to the relatively low humidity.
  16. Currently have an indoor temp of 21.4 Celsius (no heating). It's the first time the temp reached or surpassed 21 Celsius without heating since mid September.
  17. The weather has been decent since the middle of May, with temps widely reaching 16-22 Celsius accompanied by varying levels of sunshine and cloud. But in my opinion, it still isn't enough to save what has been a mediocre at best spring. I enjoyed the varied weather in March, though more sunshine would have been nice. April was dull for much of the time with temps struggling to progress as the month went on, with the first half of May continuing with the dull and wet theme seen throughout much of the previous month. I think this will end up being quite a forgettable spring overall.
  18. I'm not sure. But weeks or even months on end of dry or wet weather has been the thing with our climate over the last couple of years. It's either one or the other. I have a feeling we are in another long dry spell now. I am not complaining on this occasion though and I wouldn't mind if summer was to be another dry one as we have had a lot of rain over the last couple of months. But I am hoping autumn will be more mixed with the right levels of both.
  19. The temp in my bedroom has been hovering around 19-20 Celsius just lately, which for me is a perfect indoor temp. Nice to see that we are finally making progress.
  20. Even in this warming climate, the summer of 2022 was exceptional for the UK and I personally can't see 40 Celsius being reached again for a good few years yet.
  21. For the second day in a row, the sky has been this really weird blue colour. A strange phenomenon but pleasant nonetheless.
  22. How is it that we are coming up to the end of spring already? It only feels like yesterday since we were having that December cold spell. Time sure seems to whiz by more the older you get.
  23. I can't see 35 Celsius being reached anywhere this summer. I am going for a maximum of 34 Celsius in early July, with the remainder of the summer being largely benign.
  24. I feel like this May is a 2012 redux, so I am going for some point during the last week of May bringing us our first 25 Celsius day of the year.
  25. The second half of May is looking like a huge improvement (providing there isn't too much cloud) and we are finally getting somewhere. I am hoping it lasts and doesn't end up being a 2012 redux. Late May 2012 was also warm and sunny after a poor several weeks, and we all know how the following summer panned out.
