  1. I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if you are accustomed to it and on holiday abroad just lounging about. They also have all the necessary infrastructure. But over here, 45 Celsius would be a living hell.
  2. I have always had very few true friends in real life and have never really known how to form friendships - it just sort of happens. It's much easier online.
  3. I must be one of the few lucky ones, as the outlook isn't looking that bad for this neck of the woods. Some more sun would be nice though.
  4. True. Even summer 2012 had a warm/hot spell at some point.
  5. Oh yes, I love a good autumn storm. Fingers crossed that we get some this time. The last couple of autumns have been more on the benign side.
  6. I don't mind a warm September, just as long as it doesn't go on beyond the equinox. I feel exactly the same way about cold in March. I enjoy summer heat, but when mid September comes round I start looking forward to autumn mists and cosy evenings. All weather types have their time and place.
  7. It has actually turned genuinely unsettled today for this neck of the woods - feels like late September.
  8. This "unsettled" spell hasn't been all that prominent in this neck of the woods either, apart from one day last week which had on and off showers. It has otherwise been dry for much of the time and the weekend just gone felt pleasant enough. It has been cloudy and breezy, but that's about it.
  9. Yes, snow does start to lose its appeal once it becomes all dirty and slushy. But it's great when it's fresh and feels good to walk in.
  10. Sunshine does make a huge difference to the feel of things yes. Whilst I enjoy hot weather in summer, if push comes to shove I'd rather have a day consisting of 19 Celsius and blue skies than an overcast one at 29 Celsius. In winter, I enjoy blue sky cold frosty days (and of course some snow). They feel much more pleasant than overcast and drizzly mild winter days.
  11. Yes, I can't believe people are giving up on summer already when we just had the warmest June on record and we still have July, August and the first half of September (which is often an extension of summer these days) to go yet. There is so much pessimism in this thread.
  12. For my neck of the woods, sunset time has been the same since the solstice and remains the same until 30th June. The sunrise time has been getting slightly later by a few seconds each day though.
  13. Interesting how different the experiences we have in regards to the general public and the weather. In my experience, people tend to be more short tempered when it is hot and sunny and I constantly hear people complaining: "it's too hot".
  14. Feeling a lot fresher today and quite pleasant. I like summer heat, but I also like to have breaks between them, as long as this isn't it for the rest of the summer. I am hoping for some more heat and thunderstorms to come over the next couple of months. I also don't mind the odd cloudy day, just as long as it doesn't become a common occurence throughout the summer. Doesn't matter if it's 20 degrees or 30 degrees, if it is continuously cloudy then it's a poor summer.
  15. Was sunny this morning, but has since clouded over and we're having brief showery periods. Feeling warm though - 23°C.
  16. If I had to group the summers over the last 10 years into tiers, then this is what I would choose. The god tier 2018, 2022 (classic summers and the best ones since 1995) The top tier 2013, 2014 (decent summers with plenty of warmth and sunshine) The medium tier 2016, 2017, 2019 (nothing to write home about, but not particularly bad either) The low tier 2020, 2021 (had their moments, but poor overall) The best confined to the bin tier 2015 (apart from one hot day, it was a poor summer)
  17. Only year that comes to mind is 2011. It was quite a warm year overall, but had a meh summer.
  18. Late July is usually when I start to notice a very gradual change in the daylight hours. But mid August is when it starts to become a lot more noticeable and it seems to speed up thereon. By that point the sunset time is about an hour earlier than it is now.
  19. I would be happy living in a country that has equal daylight and night hours of the same length all year round. I believe that is the case in Singapore.
  20. In winter, I quite enjoy cold crisp frosty days accompanied by blue skies as opposed to the mild and damp dreary days which we often get. Whilst I find that sunshine affects my mood more than temperature does, I still don't want it to be 15°C in either January or July. In the meantime though, I have been happy with summer so far and am hoping there's more of the same to come.
  21. If I had to make a choice, I think I'd rather have the best of the summery weather to happen during high summer which I have always considered to be the period from 1st July to around 15th August. Any unsettled spells (with the exception of thunderstorms) I'd much rather have in June or the latter half of August.
