  1. A fairly standard UK summer's day here. 21 Celsius, alternating clouds and sunshine and a gentle breeze.
  2. No thanks. We already get enough mild and damp dull as dishwater conditions during winter as it is. The more cold crisp sunny days during winter the better.
  3. It was warm and sunny from around the 10th to the 25th whilst the rest of the month was a lot more average. Considering that seasons are 12 weeks long, a measly 2 weeks isn't enough to save this summer in my opinion. The only way for summer to end up being half decent is to provide us with a huge turnaround in August.
  4. Seems a little early this year, but tonight is the first night I have started noticing the sunset time very gradually getting earlier. I have routinely been closing my curtains at 21:30 for the last six or so weeks. Right now the time is 21:15 and it's as dark as it has been when I close the curtains.
  5. Another useful feature would be the ability to block members. The ignore feature only prevents you from seeing their posts, but they can still see and reply to yours. Even then, you still see when that person has posted should you be scrolling through that thread.
  6. I 'disagreed' with you just because I like to make people happy.
  7. I personally don't mind the idea, and I agree that the dislikes should remain annonymous as a way to avoid any hostility.
  8. July is turning out to be a bogeyman month. And the summer as a whole will end up being a bogeyman season if August ends up being mediocre at best. The two weeks of sunny warm weather we had in June won't be enough to save the summer. Two weeks out of twelve is very measly.
  9. Apologies, I was meant to say 2020. My memory isn't all that good at the best of times.
  10. Same happening here, but I think it must be under some sort of maintenance as I've noticed they've added a disagree reaction. Be interesting to see how that goes! And I am one of the people who liked your comment by the way.
  11. Peppermint oil seems to work wonders for me. I add some to a spray bottle along with some water, give it a good shake and spray it around areas where spiders are likely to come into contact with. Last year I sprayed it all around the window frames (we keep our ventilation windows open at night) and as a result I didn't see one September sized spider. It really did work and smells lovely too. Another alternative is window fly screens.
  12. My birthday, beautiful colours, cosy evenings, getting closer to Christmas, less crowds, blackberry picking, peaceful walks in crunchy leaves, cheaper holidays as well as cheaper parking charges. I think each season comes with its pros and cons.
  13. My ideal autumn would be a mixed September with a final blast of summer for a few days during the first half of the month followed by a gradual cool down as the month goes on. This would be followed by a stormy October and then a cool/cold November bringing the first frost of the season.
  14. No. I enjoy summer heat, but I believe there is such a thing as too much of anything. Twenty five to thirty Celsius days with sunshine and a gentle breeze would be nice and would be a great middle ground. But one extreme or the other seems to be fairly common with our summers nowadays, though June was nice.
  15. We are British. Moaning, particularly about the weather, is what we all do best.
  16. That would be awful. As someone who enjoys seasonal weather, I find a poor winter to be as depressing as a poor summer. I love summer heat, but cold frosty sunshine days (and of course snow) during the winter are great also. Only trouble is, more often than not it is cloudy and damp.
  17. I'll give July 2012 this much, it did have a warm sunny spell later on in the month. There has been none of that this month (apart from a one day wonder), and doesn't look as if there's going to be anything of the sort for the foreseeable. So for me personally, this July is turning out to be very akin to July 2007.
  18. As mentioned before I enjoy both summer heat and winter cold of equal measure, but I do have to say that you rarely get the same level of rudeness from winter cold lovers towards those who hate it. It's as if it's socially unacceptable to hate the heat, whereas hardly anybody batters an eyelid if you mention that you hate winter cold. I find this to be the case on both online and in real life. But yeah, you just do you. Most of us on here are nice.
  19. I need to do some work on my garden as it has now become overgrown thanks to all the rain. Haven't been able to do any work in the garden for a little while now.
  20. If it was up to me, temps between -5 and 0 Celsius with plenty of sunshine would be the norm in winter (energy bills aside), and during summer temps between 25 and 32 Celsius with plenty of sunshine with around 2 to 5 rainy days a month (mostly convective) would be the norm.
  21. In just a couple of weeks time, sunset will be around 9pm. Around half an earlier than it was at the solstice.
  22. Hope you are a feeling much better now. Dental infections are the worst. I had a severe toothache two years ago due to a nasty infection, but thankfully the pain actually went away by the time I got to see the dentist, though the infection was obviously still very much present. I was given a course of antibiotics and had to have a root canal. I have been through many aches and pains during my time, but toothache is by far the worst.
