  1. I love heat and thunderstorms during the summer, but I wouldn't go into the heat haters thread and demonise those who don't share the same view. The same goes with the cold haters thread during the winter months. It's only weather at the end of the day - it's no big deal if somebody doesn't have the same weather preferences as you do. There is a difference between banter and trolling.
  2. On other posts, you say you like cold frosty weather during the winter.
  3. What is worse than seeing a spider is when you blink and it has disappeared. Could be anywhere.
  4. Ouch! I could never see the point in wasps - they are just a nuisance.
  5. We haven't been doing too badly for wasps this year, which is just as well as I can't stand them. We have been getting a lot of flies though.
  6. It will probably end up being yet another overhyped spell like the one just gone. As nice as the last two days have been, they were nothing out of the ordinary for the time of year. Though I suppose they did feel like it after getting so used to the dull as dishwater weather we have been having since the beginning of July.
  7. If anything, a good winter consisting of snow and many cold and sunny crisp days would be most welcome after the poor summer we've been having. I like weather to be seasonal.
  8. Be nice if that comes to fruition. We have had no cold Christmas day here since 2010, so it's long overdue.
  9. I make a spider repellant by mixing peppermint oil with water in a spray bottle. I spray it around entry points and it seems to work a treat. I don't recall seeing a large house spider at all last year. Window mesh screens are great also.
  10. Today is a very strange day. When I woke up this morning the sun was out... and to my surprise, at the time of writing this post a few hours later the sun is still out! What makes it even stranger is that today was forecast to be a cloudy one. When something bad is being forecast, they are usually right, but not this time round.
  11. Looks like you're in luck this time, as the posts are still here. I guess it all depends on what kind of a mood the mods are in at the time.
  12. I agree with others in regards to your voice. Certainly a lot better than mine. I cringe whenever I hear myself on recordings.
  13. Before my time, but I am going with Maggie Thatcher as being the best years weather-wise. During her time as PM we had some good winters including the winter of 1981/82. Summers were decent too, including the summer of 1983 which was a long hot one. Also, thunderstorms were a lot more common in those days. As for worst years, I would say Gordon Brown as during his era every summer was a bad one.
  14. As far as I can recall, since the year 2003 we have only had two decent Augusts (2016 and 2022). The majority of Augusts nowadays tend to be more autumnal in nature. This one is heading the same way. Much like February tends to be more springlike rather than winterlike.
  15. I can see 20°c becoming more commonplace in February at some point. It is already more like a spring month nowadays rather than a winter month.
  16. You know that the weather has been bad when we get excited over the prospect of one 25 Celsius day... in August.
  17. Hoping for more of the same of what we had during the first half of last December along with some snow. I also think we are long overdue a cold February now. I am not interested in false springs as February is a winter month, not a spring month. And more often than not, springlike Februaries don't bode well for the following spring.
  18. Wednesday was forecast to be a particularly unsettled day in this neck of the woods, but it turned out to be quite pleasant instead and the sun was actually out.
  19. August 2021 was boring with very little to nothing interesting happening. Temps were pleasant enough in this neck of the woods, but it was cloudy for much of time.
  20. January - some of it winter, some of it autumn. February - spring. March - some of it winter, some of it autumn. April - autumn. May - first half was autumn, second half was spring. June - first few days were spring, the reaminder of the month was summer. July - autumn. August so far - autumn. So this year, we had our summer in June.
  21. It has already started to become noticeable over here and I am finding that I am having to close my curtains earlier when I have gotten used to closing them at around 9:30pm. It's still very gradual though and once we get to mid August it really starts to speed up.
  22. Sunset time for my location is now pre 9pm. 8:55pm tonight to be more exact.
