  1. I enjoyed the heatwave. Though it did later become cloudy and humid which was when my enjoyment waned.
  2. I have a feeling that the last week of the month will indeed be anticyclonic, but temp wise not as high as originally thought. I am going for a spell similar to the one we had during the last week of September 2015 and into October, which was anticyclonic accompanied by temps in the late teens along with some cool single digit foggy nights. Whilst I have lost interest in warmth by the time we get to the equinox, that doesn't mean I want it to be constantly unsettled. So I would be happy with another spell like that.
  3. The middle of September 2013 was not only unsettled, but very cool for the time of year also. With a top daytime temp of only 11°C in my area on the 17th. Felt more like November. I don't remember any unsettled periods during Sept 2014 though. From memory, it was settled all the way through.
  4. Yes, the weather seems to be almost always unsettled on or around the 22nd of September, even during the most anticyclonic of Septembers. Though there are obviously exceptions - ie; 2013, 2014 and 2021.
  5. I can see 20°C days becoming more commonplace in February at some point in the not too distant future. February is already more like a spring month nowadays.
  6. Yes I agree. A bit of light hearted banter is what makes this forum a great place to be. I don't agree with guilt tripping though, from either sides. Perhaps at times I myself have come across a little too hard in my posts but it was never intentional. Whilst I personally enjoy cold and snow, I do appreciate that not everybody else does and I am sympathetic of those who struggle. At the end of the day, it's just weather. And getting into heated arguments over something none of us can control is just silly.
  7. Hoping for the coldest October or November on record. Summer has had its chance.
  8. Turned out to be quite a pleasant afternoon with alternating clouds and sun. A current temp of 14°C A steady air pressure of 1001mb 9°C dew point Comfortable humidity
  9. That's true. February and March have switched places in most years nowadays.
  10. It's interesting that people seem to want the weather to be warm as soon as we get to March, but when September is here they don't want it to cool down until November. Mentioning that you want a warm March is socially accepted, but mentioning that you want a cool September wouldn't go down too well. I am a lover of all seasons at the right time of year personally.
  11. A mild early morning with a temp of 17°C Heavy rain An air pressure of 1000mb and falling 16°C dew point Slightly humid
  12. Personally, as I like weather to be seasonal whatever the time of year, I am no longer interested in warmth once we have reached the equinox. But before anybody jumps to conclusions that doesn't mean that I want the weather to be constantly unsettled. Days in the mid teens accompanied by sunshine and cool crisp foggy mornings with the odd rainy day and named storm added to the mix would be perfect. As much as I am disappointed with summer this year, that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the season of mist and mellow fruitfulness. I enjoyed the warm spell we had earlier this month as well as the June one, but there is a time and place for all weather types.
  13. Yet again, my area misses out on all the action.
  14. In real life, I find that most people do seem to hate the cold, but make an exception for snow particularly around Christmas. Most people also tend to favour summer over winter. On here though, I would estimate that around 70% of people enjoy cold and snow in the winter. And favouring summer or winter is around 50/50.
  15. My mother would be one of them if she was on here. She detests cold and snow with a vengeance. If she was in control of the weather, it would be hot and sunny every day all year round and would only rain at night.
  16. I think people would appreciate autumn and winter more if we had more of those kind of days. I personally lose interest in warmth once we are at the equinox and enjoy a cosy stormy autumn (particularly around Halloween) with seasonal temps, but I understand why many people don't and I am sympathetic.
  17. 22nd of September (or thereabouts) is another one. Even during the most anticyclonic of Septembers, the weather around that time is almost always more on the unsettled side.
  18. Not the summer as a whole, but the July itself this year was equally as bad as July 2007 in my opinion, barring the floods.
  19. You can make a spider repellent by mixing some peppermint oil with water in a spray bottle and spray it around areas where spiders are most likely to come into contact with such as around window frames. I have been doing that for a couple of years now and it has been working a treat. Smells lovely too.
  20. This September for me is turning out to be kind of like a warmer version of September 2012. A mostly settled and warm first half followed by a cooler and more mixed second half. I also remember the stormy period of weather we had around the 23rd.
  21. Incredible temps for so late in September. Particularly considering that it's over 100 years ago.
