  1. Died down in Hastings now, maybe more in a few hours. Will nap and set alarm!
  2. I am in a burgundy t-shirt and grey cap on the pebbles more or less oppsite the victoria statue in Warrior Square! If it rains will go under bottle alley!
  3. Yes i believe IC shows up less, but it's in ten mins easily up to 200 flashes here in Hastings yet 1/4 of that at most IC and showing on detectors
  4. 15 to 20 flashes per minute currently off Hastings coast. These right now. Mostly IC but few CG. Odd rumbles. Still few miles off land will prob die out before making landfall and maybe reigniting inland.
  5. If this makes it across the channel I will be surprised. I am on the seafront myself in Hastings. Will shelter under Bottle Alley (furthest end from the pier probably) to watch it roll in if anyone fancies it! Message me. Usually dies out as it approaches Hastings.
  6. Only near Bourges and another 200km south. Wouldn't say France has lit up as such. And those in Biscay, of the coast of Brest and L'Orient, there is activity there, not all maps I use showing the same but all showing something. Being picked up on 4 detectors/maps I use.
  7. I put my alarm on for 3 having seen what was leaving France die out but thought it may be worth checking back. Woke and looked at the radar and was surprised to see some activity 20km off the coast so I shot out of bed and crossed the road to the seafront. Was a decent hour or so under what was about 3 rumbles per minute in Hastings. Some very heavy rain at times. Mostly C-C but a few C-G too. Some pretty close I felt and made me jump! Few gifs. Got about an hour of footage from phone and DSLR. Will look back later maybe. Couple of hours kip before 9am client! 4 photos post-storm on my Twitter @meridianbizhub
  8. I am at bottle alley on hastings seafront with cameras poised. Great flashes as it comes rolling in! I am at warrior square end. Come say hello!
  9. Camera gear ready by the door in case the eastern edge makes it to Hastings. Often gets about 10km off the coast and fizzles out. Thankfully I live more or less on the seafront and we have some sheltered parts on the seafront.
  10. This beast was forming over what would have been north of Eastbourne so Polegate/Hailsham area around 11am. Taken from Hastings. Would be nice to see a storm roll in from the sea as we sometimes do but it fizzes out as it gets within 5k usually. Taking partner to Heathrow from Hastings on Thurs morning 3-5am so perhaps I may witness something along the way.
  11. Few odd spots of rain here on Hastings seafront, currently filming this cloud here for a timelapse as it seems to be changing shape a little and rotating slightly. No lightning here though
  12. Looking forward to potentially heading out early with my gear to capture some footage as it heads in across the channel. Minimal risk at the moment but I shall set my alarm regularly so I can check out the radars. Opposite where I live is a sheltered promenade so I can get views from Eastbourne to Dungeness without getting wet. Anyone else in the Hastings area potentially heading down to the seafront in the morning just in case?
  13. 13th/14th a channel low passes through ending up over Denmark at the end of that gif.
  14. Good morning all and Merry Christmas! Currently in Latvia 150 miles east of Riga where cherry blossom has been blooming. Been up to 6c here but did have colder periods with a dusting of snow a couple of weeks ago. Expecting colder weather from tomorrow with chance of snow - here it can snow lightly and not appear on radars and before you know it, 4 to 6 inches has accumulated. Although it is expected to be brief and not stay around. Meanwhile it would appear that the daffs may begin to show their faces with spring-like temps. Definitely more autumnal than winter. But as we all know, after day 5 confidence reduces and a small change anywhere in these charte could flip things around in a short period of time. We could have 2 feet of snow in 10 days... We still have 3 months for snow chances. Anyone who didn't ask Santa for one of these only has themselves to blame...
  15. Good afternoon all! First post of this winter for me. Been interesting to read the past 3 or 4 weeks - a little tease here and there for the 7-10+ day periods but nothing coming to within a confident range. Good to see some charts now indicating what we would prefer to see happen, and for cold to arrive in the way it would bring a better chance of prolonged cold with possible wintriness rather than transient local rubbish, albeit still for 10+ away. I shall be in Latvia (Riga) next Sat and Sun before heading 150km East until the new year. Had several inches of snow both past 2 Christmases, but although there has been some light snow on and off the past few days, nothing too promising just yet. Where it has snowed, GEM has been most accurated with the precip type charts, and in general. Showing light precip for when it actually has rained or snowed even lightly compared to GFS showing nothing at all. Fingers crossed for snow here so long as there is some when I come back, even a couple of centimetres... but not at Gatwick as it will probably shut down.
  16. Off to Faro/Albufeira 5th-10th March... would be annoying if it snowed here then. Thankfully off to Greece (Santorini) early May so should hope no cold pool extending that far south then. Between Portugal and Greece I'll be in Latvia for Easter... 3 weeks later than last Easter when we had snowfall there... not impossible but I am hoping for one more cold shot somewhere!
  17. Finally... on the seafront in Hastings. A good 5/10 rate... ground will start to cool and may settle if it continues for a couple of hours. https://www.beaming.co.uk/hastings-coastal-webcam/ If it shows black just wait for it to pan around/in/out
  18. Rain last night on Hastings seafront with snow in Eastbourne and even 100 metres up in Hastings. Same today it seem. Moderate rain now.
  19. To me, on the radar if you freeze the frame where there is that precipitation, it would seem like a streamer, it is actually just the same feature still moving around. None of it is heading west but budging north and pivoting still. Streamer of the sort you mention would show precipitation directly heading west. Given the current wind direction around the Thames, if it were a streamer and heading anywhere it would be towards areas below Berkshire. Down into parts of Middlesex, Surrey, North Hants perhaps.
  20. Stopped on the seafront in Hastings/St Leonards now. Will be all for tonight here. So much for 9pm til 4am! Half a centimetre on the wall... that's about it. Wasn't to be tonight but enjoy it whoever has a good amount!
  21. Ok turning to snow now and blowing a gale on Hastings seafront. Maybe too late as it will pass in an hour or so it seems and stall inland. Cant see this amounting to much here now. 2cm tops maybe.
  22. Went outside. Not a flake. Radar suggests otherwise that it should be snowing enough to notice! Someone reporting almost blizzard like conditions in Brighton on UKsnowmap... giving a 7/10... whaaaaaaat.
