  1. Great post from W-H times seem to have changed! plus as iand61 states some pretty stark differences across the country for the next couple of days-could get pretty tough in central Scotland especially with a bit of height. Anyhow 7.2 C in the dank and drippy marginals and very still. Hmmmm, Shed work or hedge planting? Decisions, decisions. Still hoping for that change next week.
  2. 7.2C breezy from SW, outbreaks of rain in the marginals. Surprisingly wild last night for a time-going to see if its blown me any firewood down.! Looks like a spell of active Atlantic stuff before the possibility of a change to cooler conditions in a week or so. Ah well, at least we are past the equinox!
  3. 6.4 degrees, steady rain, gusty in the dark and damp marginals. Enough said.
  4. 5.0 here in the marginals, nice an bright, much better than yesterdays dark and manky. Happy Christmas all. Here's hoping for some more interest in the weeks to come.
  5. just been down country to visit in laws. What a difference a day makes! Hideous drive back. Now 3.4 and rising fast. Raining. Great.-already missing the cold and clear.
  6. a balmy -2.2 here. been outside all morning-definite different 'feel' to the day now, different air mass?
  7. -7.1 temps not quite falling away as fast as last night. Beautiful night though.
  8. Thank you raul_sbd Night time temps very similar day times a little different. A few years ago (2010? Beast from the East?). Woodford aerodrome recorded a minus something ridiculous. I think it was thought to be due to cold air rolling off the hills and a light westerly drift ponding it against the front of the hills. In the dim and distant I seem to recall something similar in one of the 80's winters. I wonder if something similar is happening. Still going to change batteries though!
  9. DL's made me wonder now! Temp now reading -4,2. no melting outside unless on angled south facing surface. Everything else pretty much solid. Have I got a dodgy sensor? Might just change the battery anyway, Has anyone else got a shade temp for early afternoon away from the coast
  10. East Cheshire SW of Macclesfield. Shade temp at 2m. 8m from house. Electronic weather station sensor so not completely accurate, but night time temps appear about correct when compared with other nearby contributors.
  11. Still holding at -4.5 in the marginals. Expecting it to start dropping again in the next hour.
  12. Coincidentally RobR-I was talking about the yearly temp range to my A- level classes last week. Nearly 50 degrees-crazy, never would have thought.......
  13. -9.1 in the the marginals. Wonder if we can get a -10 tonight. Next few days look interesting.
  14. -6.2 already in the Macc marginals. Chance of a decent minima tonight.
  15. Currently -6.8 in the Macc marginals- still dropping. (went down another .1 when I was having a brew). Ah well lets go and see if the truck will turnover.........
  16. damianslaw/jimben-does anyone record temps say top of Borrowdale or Newlands? Could be pretty chilly in top of the North facing dales.
  17. Just been for a quick stroll round the block-Cheers for the Geminids reminder Jimben! Temp now -4.1 so still sliding down. 1 meteor. Some high cloud to south West (Shropshire / Welsh borders way?).
  18. -3.3 dropping fast, Stoking up the log burner! Chance of a -7 by morning?
  19. -2.5 here in the Macc marginals. Only did about -0.5 last night with the cloud cover. Could get a bit parky tonight but there looks to be a few bits of high cloud about.
  20. Moderate snow in the East Cheshire Marginal belt. Settling well. -0.3
