this winter has failed to deliver on so many occasions. i love winter but this one has me defeated. Bring on the summer. at least we can guarantee some sun and warmth whereas in the winter any resemblance of cold and snow is something rare. definately going somewhere cold and snowy for my hols next winter. Britain is just not the place for cold and snow and its only going to get worse.
Cold enough for me. OK no snarw but a beast from the east is a twice in a lifetime thing. Glad i got to tell my kids I told you so. Warmth would be better. If you pay the heating bills, sort of sucks just freezing fog.

Batten down the hatches. Nasty. Parts of my county are likely to crumble into the sea. Hopefully not my part.

The Arpege model is usually very good with wind strengths it was good at forecasting the unnamed vigorous storm that swept through earlier this year as an example but the icon is going along the same idea of 70+mph but still large uncertainty I personally think arpege has got this system right for tomorrow but as always time will tell.
Same here. I agree.

Across the board things improve in some ways in the east of Thursday with mid twenties possible even close to the NE coast (possibly) on Thursday and Friday.
Temperature variations caused more by shower distribution, in fact that is why I refer to the improvement in certain aspects as there could be a lot of slow moving thundery downpours.
UKMO looks decent from Thursday onwards with variable winds becoming south easterly into the following week.
GFS.......
It drifts that low eastwards and starts to interact with a cold pool over Scandinavia which swings the winds back to the NE, in fact there are a couple of weak fronts which push across the north sea to bring patchy rain and drizzle as opposed to the thundery downpours of late. GEM agrees to a degree and of course the ECM this morning was similar in evolution to where the UKMO is sitting.
We should have had this in January would have been legendary winter. Never mind these easterlies do get stuck. Dry but chilly. Not what is wanted tbh.

everything still looks ok, it just seems like we have been stuck in this pattern forever, I’m guessing some people (east coast dwellers especially) would like some sort of change now!
Norfolk seems to have been fogbound for a week or two. And looks to be for the coming week. Very depressing.

Sounds rough. I help out on the sheep show. Got a mate breeding Norfolk Horns. They are pretty Hardy and used to wet soil, ground is so sodden at the moment horrible for sheep. Like you say this wind and cold is not helping at all. ATB and hope things go to plan for lambing. Hoping for spring but this easterly flow looks locked in.

Station road in Stanhoe and the road from shammer to Burnham Market down beacon hill are not passable, massive drifts. I would think the Docking to Brancaster road will be blocked if the wind gets up overnight
Yes the common road from Staithe is blocked. Not sure about Docking to Brancaster road.

I don't understand why there are lots of showers to the North and South but next to none over Norfolk? Are we likely to get more showers later?
It's like there's a massive shield diverting the showers and leaving us in the sun
Brancaster and best sledge ever ; )

Just run the radar, can now see why central Norfolk didn't get anything overnight. The showers just couldn't make it this far
Oh dear we got a foot here and drifting.

Clear and starry here, just south-west of Cambridge. Currently -5.6C, low of -6 last night. A few brief flurries of snow yesterday and today, despite fearsome dark clouds swiftly giving way to sunshine, but only a dusting still on the drive, most of the grass is clear and it didn't settle on the roads.
Perfect pike fishing weather.

Showers still making it as far as Norwich but tending to lose their intensity once they come inland by 20 miles or so. Further south they look to be heavier and sustaining quite nicely over the Suffolk coast.
Its been crazy here on the coast. Drifting against the pub door. Fall in and out.

I am reaching peak frustration. Can't see anything exciting for north London tonight, showers seem to die as soon as they reach land. Although someone correct me if I'm missing something.
Frustrating couple of days for the north London massive - even that blizzard that crossed London missed me earlier, and dropped an inch in Ealing, literally 15 minutes' drive away.
Hey ho, it's only the weather!
Yes sorry to here some folk are not getting this,
I have been waiting 35 years to take my sons where I used to sledge. I always told them of my times back then.
Today 50 year old hammering down the snow like a kid. Bucket list stuff.
There is a lot of snow moving inland . I hope you get it hard like here.

Recently lost power here due to a really heavy snow storm and associated lightning. Thick snow on the ground here now but thankfully power is back.
Yep lights were flickering in the pub. Real nice to experience this again. I was very negative yesterday. Blown away today. Brancaster is the place to be tonight. it is still chucking it down.

I think they might well extend the warning. Time will tell, but the ppn is far more intense than last night.
Does seem like convection has started. Before now was just 2 min snowfall every hour for last 48 hours. That blizzard was awesome. good hour long.
