With a bit of luck, the core of the highest winds will miss to your east...perhaps running up the Irish Sea as per 18z
On a side note, I can't believe how differently Ireland approaches these things. I could never imagine my company (a large retailer) allowing closure due to storm force winds. In fact, they'd still try and trade if the roof blew off!
Sounds like you work for one of the car manufacturing giants in the north east lol.

Bit off topic to Ophelia.....but if anyone has looked on windy.com.....do they notice a second cone of wind coming in from the west?

Huge wind gusts (if thats the right chart!)

The north east england looks to be getting quite a lot of wind aswell!

Certainly interesting. And im pleased its remaining 'cold' for most of the uk. My main interest is scottish highlands for next weekend when we will be away skiing, so hoping for the snow to hang around through the next week and there be little wind at the weekend. Only thing that concerns me at the minute is the high that just glances the top of the UK, so hopefully it doesnt bring any warm temps or rain above 600m.

Surely its a difference of opinion as to what you want or not in a very odd month for the UK.
2nd day of spring and people expect summer to be upon us with 20c sunny days. haha.

18z run looks a lot different to the 12z from around 180hrs. Azores much further west allowing the cold to drop down through Europe to the East.

Plenty of cold between now and 11th march for highland scotland will be good enough for me. Not liking the sound of milder air or higher temp uppers closing in which could bring rain.

Cant help but think going to need a bit more colder weather than 0c or -4c uppers for snow in the scottish highlands though. But hopefully a spot or two of the low pressure will help deliver the goods.

Glencoe did alright from Doris at resort level (600m) - around 20cm estimated.

About 5 lobes of cold pressure on the 500hpa charts that head east that cross the UK in that run!! Might not bring the best conditions for us snow/coldies...but thats pretty impressive.

Back in familiar territory chasing Ecm cold potential at T+240 hours..does any coldie have the strength left for that?
Hopefully.... Im watching for signs of any cold/snow getting into the scottish highlands for when we go skiing 2nd weekend in march (11th/12th). Pretty low snow cover up there currently so could do with a nice dumping before then and hopefully no/little wind so the lifts can run.
In Durham, we had frost/ice on the cars this morningm. Still must be getting pretty cold on a night.
