  1. Its a calm start here in Rye this morning, very overcast. We have been under a severe flood warning on and off over the weekend, we still have one in place but at least its not a red warning at the moment. We live right on the river so its always tense when that happens. The tide is due to be a lot higher today but we don't have the wind at the moment so hopefully we will be fine. Ive been watching Lorenzo and this morning the Hurricane centre has tracked it a lot further to the west so the winds will slightly clip the west of Ireland rather than a direct hit. Ive been keeping an eye on the newspaper reports again this year, I always like reading these for entertainment purposes. the usual suspects are up to it again, I believe the newest report is how cold it will get in mid October. who knows if they will be right but time will tell, from what they say we might be able to make snowmen and Halloween this year.
  2. Took my boys Go-karting this morning. We all got soaked but they had a brilliant time. We live near Camber beach in East Sussex I decided to go and have a look at the sea but as soon as we got in to the car park we were told we needed to leave because it was high tide and the weather was causing high waves and it was to dangerous for us to go near. we have had a few hours rest from the rain but its just started to drizzle again and its very very windy. Im very interested in Hurricane Lorenzo. Charts are all over the place which is to be expected. The track seems to be all over the place so only time will see.
  3. Well they are at it again, the newspapers. That’s all I have seen all day from the express and even the sun. Coldest winter, -14 I struggle to believe this even though a few scientists have come up with the same answer. I know they know an incredible amount more than me but I don’t think it will work out that way.
  4. just seen video from hurricane centre they said the eye of the storm has grown and so has the width of the whole hurricane. They still believe that the eye will pass just of the coast but he said it will only take a little to change this completely. the pressure is still dropping.
  5. noaa have just said that its the strongest hurricane in modern record for the Bahamas. 913mb
  6. I have been watching this hurricane for a few days. A lot of people I think underestimated what she was capable of. ive just seen a twitter post from the National Hurricane Centre saying that the wind speed is now up tp 180 with gusts of 200mph they are telling people to seek cover. whilst writing this they are telling people that a storm surge of 18-23 will hit in the next few hours and seek elevated shelter. I feel so incredibly worried for all of those people in its path. im sitting here in my sunny garden with a slight breeze and they are going through this devastation. mother nature can be so cruel.
  7. We’ve had some beautiful days here. I’m really lucky because my kids have grown up in the heat of Dubai so it just doesn’t seem to bother them at all. My neighbours think my kids are crazy playing outside in the middle of the day for hours. It’s so nice to have these lovely days, someone posted on my fb about Christmas coming with a snow scene, that’s always a nice thought.
  8. This morning when taking the kids to school it felt autumnal, it was slightly misty here. It’s been a nice day if you’ve got out of the wind. My kids have turned their heating on in their rooms tonight and even I have to say I feel slightly colder tonight. I’m hoping it warms up lovely for the weekend.
  9. 03.28 and I’m wide awake, it’s so humid in the house even with the windows open, the storm has decided to come this way which explains the humidity. I’ve been tracking the storms all night it’s been to hot to sleep so these are what’s on they’re way to us. It’s been lightning on and off for about an hour now. We’ve had extremely heavy rain. Humidity is up to 97% and it feels like it is as well.
  10. I remember that storm I had just got back from Brownies and there were thousands of those flying ant things about. ( I’m sure it’s the same storm) they covered my parents car, it was incredible looking back on it but at the time I think I was sitting under the stairs like Harry Potter with my head between my legs crying. I was petrified of storms as a child.
  11. I have been watching the storms in France for a few hours now and they seem to be stuck. The path of the storms seems to be uncertain I think, lots of charts say Brighton way but a lot are saying slightly more to the right now e/Sussex clipping Kent. Who knows wait and see I think.
  12. It’s extremely overcast here in Rye 21 degrees, humidity is 73% it’s very windy here, the wind has got up since this morning. We were going to the beach and having a BBQ today but it’s just been such an odd day. I have been reading about the plume coming up from Africa. It will be wonderful to have the heat but we still have to be worried about the elderly. I told my eldest that it might be that hot and he thought that was brilliant, Im lucky that my kids are so used to the heat from living in Dubai, my kids are all still wearing their jumpers because it’s “not that hot” they tell me. People think we’re mad.
  13. It’s raining here again but it is incredibly humid around 91% at the moment it’s very humid in the house. Because we live right on the SE coast we could see the storm advancing for hours. My husband said it’s some of the worst Thunder and lightning he has ever seen.
  14. Just seen this, wouldn’t this be interesting (it isn’t the express ) they said that the thunderstorms heading our way tonight have got an unusual spinning cell in them like the storms in America. It would cause a lot of trouble I’m sure and if it did ever happen but what a thing to see.
  15. We popped to Hastings this morning it was a lovely day but the wind was slightly chilly we were planning a BBQ but on the way back home to Rye it became very overcast and started to rain. It’s now been raining on and of very lightly for a few hours. I have opened all the doors and windows because it feels quite humid in the house.
  16. I’ve been thinking about humid it is tonight in the house, I have actually felt quite uncomfortable all evening. I have just gone on to lightening maps and there are lots of storm coming up from France and Belgium and there has just been a lightning strike not far from here. I’m not surprised the weather has been so imup and down. I was amazed at the length of the storms currently going through Europe and how many counties it’s passing through.
  17. Odd day today. It’s been very overcast here all day and not very warm at all all of a sudden it seems like the sun is trying to push through at long last. It’s very breezy here which is t helping with the temperature. We were heading to our local water park today but it’s to grey and cold.
  18. It’s been an odd day here, we headed to Battle today they had a Medieval fayre there. It started out beautiful we walked all the way around Battle Abbey and the battle field. About 13.00 hours the weather started to change it clouded over and the temperature fell away we also had a few spots of rain. I’m now quite hot and it feels slightly humid to me, I have the windows and french doors wide open. I have been keeping an eye on the weather tomorrow because we might go to Kent but every forecast seems very different.
  19. It’s a beautiful day here in Rye, one thing I have noticed is the temperature, it was forecast to be 14 here today but it’s reached 18 now and everyone is taking off jackets and jumpers and sitting in the sun with drinks and Ice creams.
  20. We went to Newhaven Fort today and it was very cold in the wind especially when walking around the battlements and the guns. We were lucky that we didn't have any rain showers. I don't like the wind so much but the showers don't worry me much because its always good to have it. I am glad that it doesn't seem to be getting as cold as first thought, I don't want to feel cold in May it should be slightly behaving itself this point. The charts are look to be improving towards the end of the week which is a brilliant.
  21. Today was forecast to be a very showery day here in Rye well we haven’t had one shower all day which is quite a surprise. It started of very grey and chilly, it’s beautiful here now with a slight breeze
  22. It’s been a beautiful couple of days here and in London. We have been outside from around 09.00 to 17.30 everyday enjoying the sun and heat. I do love this weather but I agree that it will be nice to have a bit of rain for gardens and rivers. I popped to Hasting this afternoon and I was quite surprised about how humid it felt, it seems to change really fast when it clouded over and to me it still feels slight humid now. It’s going to be a warm night. It’s been a glorious 22 here today it’s currently 14 still. Does anyone know about the chance of storms in the SE for the next few days?
  23. It’s a beautiful day here inn Rye Harbour, very warm with a lovely warm breeze @LightningLover hope you’re enjoying Rye and the sun. I have a feeling you might be just around the corner from me. Its BBQ time for us later we never miss a change to get the bbq out, I think a lot of people are having the same idea as I went to the shop and they had completely rolls. Some very good posts on the Mod thread a lot from @Frosty. which are very good.
  24. A beautiful day I’m Rye, the kids have been out all day again which they love this morning was spent watching them dig mud out of the lane and put it in a dumper truck then tip it on each other’s shoes. They come back covered in dirt but I’m never worried. I like that’s it’s sunny at spring break it’s better that we can get out, my son is frightened of rain so going out can be a problem on wet days or wettish days. The weather forecast was for 17 here today well it has reached 21 and that’s on the coast. There has been the sea breeze here which feels slightly warmer. I do love this weather. I’m sure our bbq will be opened up by the end of this warm spell. I hope your all enjoying the sun.
  25. It’s quite cloudy here in Rye but the sun is out a bit so that’s always positive. I need it to stay sunny today because we are having a picnic whilst out. @LightningLover My eldest has bad asthma and allergies and he is struggling already he plays loads of sport as well. We’re off to Bewl water for the day, I’ve wrapped the kids up warm because we will do a lot of walking it’s 13 miles all the way around the reservoir, I’m not sure if they will make it all the way but we’re going to give it a shot. They are all children that love being outside so that helps just hoping it stays semi nice.
