  1. Not really, they just don't like to forecast anything more than 3 days in advance. And why should they, most people can cope with a 2 day warning of snow. The LAs, HA, airports, etc., should be paying attention a bit further ahead in order to make contingency plans, (however inadequate), but Joe Public would just moan that they were warned about nothing, just as they'll not pay attention and moan that they weren't warned 2 days ahead. They can't win. And no-one on here needs the BBC to warn them, do they? Andrew
  2. Very light fall of flakes in Manchester now, melting on all surfaces. Andrew
  3. Is that the Calva Bridge they're talking about on the BBC right now? Andrew
  4. It looks the same as the LCCC one, where "storm rain" means the rain since the last 24 period with no recorded rain. Andrew
  5. More rain the the last month than Manchester has had all year: http://www.keswickweather.co.uk/weather/bor/Current_Vantage_Pro.htm vs. http://www.lccc.co.uk/weatherstation/ Andrew
  6. Don't forget your guns... Tornado Hunter: Andrew
  7. Awesome, very funny. And so true. Andrew, stuck in the low-lying-surrounded-by-hills storm desert that is south Manchester
  8. Very heavy rain in south Manchester in the early hours, heard a distant rumble at about 06:45. Stopped now but I've a great view out of my office window of the towers going up in Cheshire. Clouds are moving quite quickly too. Andrew
  9. Crap in Manchester today: after a bit of inital brightness it clouded up completely, and has been raining since about 11. After a couple of heavy bursts it's basically drizzling now. No thunder, nothing. And my 5 year old's on a school trip to Tatton Park, bummer for them. Andrew
  10. Gorgeous in Manchester today: 26 with a light breeze, sunny with patchy high cloud. A 20C low overnight was especially impressive considering it didn't make it over 26 yesterday and most of the afternoon was more like 23. Missed any fireworks in my area overnight, hoping for something later. Andrew
  11. Looking to the north east at the moment, don't know if it moves. Andrew
  12. Looks good, you must be right under it, getting rain in S Manch now with thunder. Torretial shower at 2115 that brewed from nowhere on the radar. Maybe it'll makeup for missing all the action on Monday. Hmm, getting quite active, lighting every 2 mins or so and rather windy. Andrew
  13. Nothing here in south Manchester. A huge cell just grew to our east and hopped off into the Peak Dist., all we got was a few spots and the echoes of distant thunder. It's not fair: we missed all the snow in February too! Andrew
  14. Judging by http://www.bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester/...8&region=SO they'll need some canoes! Andrew
  15. Lighting and thunder Trafford Park just now. Andrew
  16. Spring is Sprung. In Trafford Park at least, it's sunny and warm. Andrew
  17. Quite, it's the same here in Manchester. Apart from an inch on Monday that melted by Tuesday morning, and a half a cm yesterday that melted by lunchtime, it's been dry here. Not even particularly cold. It's getting beyong a joke to hear about the disrubtion in the south day after day, it's even pushed the economy off the top of the news. Andrew
  18. Yes, here too. We're very low-lying though so I'm not surprised. Hard frost has followed the thaw though! I'm just hoping it won't thaw on the hills before the weekend so we can go sledging with the kids. Any reports from Hyde hill? Andrew
  19. Not much left in Chorlton, south Manchester now, most of what was on the lawn has melted, still some on roofs. Nothing falling now either. Andrew
  20. 953 in Manchester 09:00. But that's the min my barometer goes to, so who knows the real value... Andrew
  21. Torrential rain on the M6 Staffs/Cheshire border, about 19:30, including 2 bolts of lightning. Andrew
  22. Big shower with thunder crossed N Manchester at 1ish. Now sunny again. Andrew
  23. Thunder heard in Trafford Park, Manchester. We've has some sustained heavy rain since lunch, now it's just drizzly but more to come according to the radar. Andrew Edit: Hang on, it's pouring again, but strangely bright.
  24. It's not much to look at on the radar, but here in S Manchester it's just rained, quite hard for 10 mins and now lighter. No thunder but the drops had that melted hail look to them. Refreshing after the humid day we've had. Andrew
  25. Very icy in Portland Oregon... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ccdde4967e&c=1 Slip, sliding away. Andrew
