  1. Humid and ready for action here. Shot to the south-west of the house.
  2. Well, I am still here up by Durham City! I'm hoping for something tomorrow! Glancing through the Cape and LI charts I get fed up when I see France turn bright red with enough LI and Cape to look like someone's sucking the air out of the area. Rarely get that in the UK! Good hunting tomorrow.
  3. I am keen to report from Durham that....nothing happened. I experienced a bust so bad, even the better bits of the bust were busted. Oh well. It's raining now. StormLoser's 'local high pressure' strikes again.
  4. I've checked outside reading and it is 25.5 in the shade. I guess I've been softened up by recent warm weather! Well, thanks for the good news. I've been Kent Clipped so many times while in the south, I can't help feel pre-disappointment!
  5. It has brightened up in Durham but the temps are nothing like the ones forecast. Guessing in the low 20s. I'd be astounded if we got anywhere near the 28 forecast by the Met Office. Also, that front looks like it is drying and fading rapidly from the south as it traverses east. I'm not encouraged...
  6. Durham now has grey skies - mostly high cloud. Ground forcing will not happen here unless this cloud breaks up.
  7. I can't believe 'Ol Durham Town' may be in for a pasting - while I am here, too! If I get any good photos, I'll post them. As a kid back in the 1960s (living in Durham) I remember an almighty storm breaking out over the city one hot afternoon. I was at school and the teacher closed the shutters on the windows to force us to concentrate on her lesson (I've never forgiven her for that!) The storm had built over the city during the morning and never really moved away. The amount of rainfall was astonishing. Right now it's a mix of blue sky and high cloud.
  8. Thank you Dan for your forecast. Well, I may be in luck. I'm in Durham right now for an extended period, and tomorrow's forecast might break a long run of bad luck for me. Unless my personal high-pressure zone has accompanied me here. (Or 'Heat Dome' as some weirdos are calling high pressures, now). If I get anything, I'll be sure to let you know!
  9. I'm on my extended visit to Durham (from home, in Reigate). Sunday's forecast looks interesting, but....but.... even the Met Officce are hedging their bets. I hope I'll be on for a show tomorrow.
  10. Whilst I've missed everything in my visit to Durham, the anvil top of the Pennine storms has reached all the way here! Must be a hacking great big lump of storms.
  11. Thanks! Guess what, I am 300 miles away visiting Mother, in the north east, where it is bone dry and warm! Nooooo!!!!!
  12. And my Reigate storm cell finally electrified at 4:35, about a third of a mile west of the house. One bolt of lightning, heavy rain and a little hail. I'm quite grateful it didn't electrify on top of the house! I think that was all it could give. It's given up and turned to heavy rain now. Oh well. nice bit of lightning.
  13. Just had a cell building right over my house. It's meandered off west, no electrification yet. Have had some rumbles around from nearby storms.
  14. I can see it kicking off a lot in places. But (as usual) I seem to have acquired an arc of 'not going to happen' in the area. However, the sky's still busy here so I'm hoping for something later.
  15. Who drew that square around my area?! Let me tell you at once that this is Reigate, and there is a 5 square mile 1031mb high pressure area permanently centred over me. That said - very promising towering cumulus all around. Could (dare I say it) be good? I'll believe the various forecasts when they happen. The Met Office's warning of yellow-coloured weather, however, is all north of London. A couple of shots from @11:15am South east South west PS anyone who comments on the weeds in our garden will be reported to the moderators!!
  16. I must confess I've been a bit let down here in Reigate. OK, on Tuesday we had a few rumbles. Wednesday was cloudy and cool until the afternoon and we had one rain shower. I think I had the first case of a "UK Clipper" - where the rest of the UK had storms and we missed them. Anyhow, I do feel sorry for those that got flooded out, and I hope they're able to get back to normal quickly.
  17. A few good rumbles around the Reigate area and it looked like a reasonable storm progressed through the Gatwick area. Another kicked off over Croydon. But it's hard to see much due to very bland cloudscapes and I get the impression most of the lightning is high. I'm guessing we'll see more activity later with the bigger batches heading our way. The cat isn't happy.
  18. All looking good, even for my own no-storm zone here in Reigate! But we really could do with the sun coming through here. We have a very determine bank of cloud sitting over us and virtually no glimpse of the sun.
  19. Hmmm. Thanks Nick Finnis for the forecast. A bit disappointing for the Reigate Local High Pressure zone, here. Enjoy the storms, those of you who get them!
  20. Low pressure centre deepening over Cornwall right now. Interesting swirl of clouds. Meteo France is forecasting some storms over the Cherbourg and north coast areas, too. Some are already active there, as well as some brief activity in northern Cornwall.
  21. Reigate: one good cloud to ground bolt a mile off. A few rumbles. It was like being hit by a wet blancmange. Even the worst of the rain lasted 5 minutes. Ho hum.
  22. Hmph. I've watched Bognor webcam and saw a few flashes and a wet breeze. So much for packing up the garden expecting an Iowa Derecho... Still, better prepared than not! Enjoy! Even Reigate might see a flash of lightning.
  23. Heavy rain overnight (No storms but I am in my own high pressure zone as you know...lol). Weather warning out for....a sunny Sunday with the odd shower. Really? Back to the potting shed and a sherry in the greenhouse.
  24. Activity for Sunday looks rather west of the Portsmouth-north line right now. Looks like a 'West-Clipper' for tomorrow?
