Not impressed with this so far. I'm siding with Estofex tonight: heavy rain and squally winds. I even took extreme measures and shut the greenhouse door.
We're ready in Reigate - just bypass us as usual!
I am indifferently watching the radar as a slender line of decaying and dull-looking showers amble towards Reigate. I don't know if they have enough 'oomph' to keep going.
So...perhaps tomorrow? I live in hope...
I have to sympathise and agree with you. I have genuinely witnessed a storm coming from the south, collapsing, carefully circling Reigate to the east, before resuming its activity as it moves north.
People like us are fated.
Hmmm. I see the exports from France are already splitting. One lot to go east of Reigate, and one lot to go west. Perhaps I should retire to a Tibetan monastery.
I'm not expecting much in the Reigate area tonight. There's still a solid high pressure ramp to the east and my gauge is staying pretty steady. So it's a very dry situation, and clear skies out here in the wild east.
It would be nice to have some rain, but maybe Sunday or next week.
For those of you who see stuff - enjoy!
Thanks for the forecast, Nick. Well, rain is always welcome in the desert formerly known as Surrey. Let's hope we get some of that and anything else is a bonus.
Oh! We just had several almighty flashes of lightning and loud thunder here in Reigate as the front passed through! Forked lightning with one crack right overhead. Nice gift towards the end of the season!
Nice sky-filling forked lightning! And it's now heading north. I get the feeling the rest is likely to be rain with the occasional "lucky flash".
I assumed today would bring nothing. How nice to be pleasantly surprised! And there's more brewing in the Channel, too.
Three or four good flashes (one forked, negative) over Reigate just now as a cell passed north.
Looks like we may get a bit more by 9pm...
At last. At lonnngg last.
I heard the rain around 6 this morning in Reigate. Now been around our garden and it was an absolute inundation. So much rain that it pulled the canvas awning down off our metal pergola! (Now that's a new one for me). The pond got filled up to overflowing and everything is awash with water.
I thought I'd catch up with the Met Office's video forecast. That was a mistake. Out of date, inaccurate and overly jolly as always. (Off stage swearing, left)
Thanks Dan for your forecast!
Glad you could meet him. I love his videos, his laid back approach and his wonderful music (as you know he composes it himself!). And his fascination with the wildlife is a bonus. Great guy.
Tip him a nod from a fan when you next chat to him!
Gah! In Reigate we're on the southern limit of this weather again. We're catching an occasional heavy shower but that's all. Most of the time the sun is out.
Enjoy your storms!
