    Currently 8.1c here, lowest I monitored last night was 1.7c, but it surely dropped after I fell asleep, about 12:30am. Pressure: 1008.6hPa and dropping Breezy outside with a few strong gusts, have a fence panel blown down here, patchy cloud with blue skies, some darker here and there

    Well NW did state that the surge may well come down through the Thames estuary, I know S'end is facing the wrong way, but still the funnel effect may push the tide up a little? Winds look to be coming from a southerly direction right now, which is perfect for the Southend sea wall I'll try to take some pics of interest!

    I agree with you Jax, the Christmas lights seem to be up early this year, I seem to remember over the past few years that Xmas lights didn't seem to appear until around maybe the 5th or later. I went out last night and pretty much half my street is decorating their houses! Nevertheless I'll be up on the roof tonight doing mine, my house now sticks out like a sore thumb

    With an ungodly amount of money. Speaking of which I just ordered a kettle from Argos, and Shutl are delivering it to me within 2 hours, I'm pleasantly surprised as now I don't have to get the bus to Rayleigh. Sorry it's not quite on the scale of the OP, but it's still on topic

    5.2c here right now, thinking tonight could be another cold one providing the cloud doesn't roll in around again. Only had one air frost here so far, but a few ground frosts now, haven't been getting them as of late, even though the air temp has been around 2c early morning. Pressure is 1024.8hPa and rising 80% humidity Another sunny day forecast Minimum temp so far this autumn for my area is -0.9c

    1.6c here, started raining about 25mins ago, initially fell as freezing rain for all of 5 minutes which was interesting, dew point has now lifted above 0 and it's raining : booo!!!

    Radar has switched all that freezing rain to plain old boring rain, although I can't see that being likely as it's still only 1.5c outside! Hopefully it should be over here soon, it's just cold and crisp right now, not much really going on tbh!

    Is anyone else having problems with the forum time? I've just clocked some of my posts, the forum states that the post at the top of this page was posted at 17:07, and then a few posts down theres a new post with a timestamp of 53m ago, then each post after that the minutes go down as normal. But my timestamp of 17:07 is surely wrong?! and other time stamps after that. EDIT: Think I've sorted it, time zone was set to GMT+1

    Ok thanks, this is because when a front comes in from the west it will usually drag with it milder air displacing our current cold snap, whereas a front from the north or NE/E would commonly prolong the spell of cold? Is that correct, sorry for my noobiness! Trying to get the hang of things PS: I know it's a lot more complicated that how I've explained it Thank you both, very informative!
