  1. Nice to see things starting to drop to average after new-year
  2. I read the Met Office update before checking the Models , These Charts look like the polar opposite .... Snow looks likely Wednesday now as well after the front passes .... This could be a long Cold winter .
  3. Pennines seem to be killing the precipitation on the western side at the moment, if you look back over the radar..
  4. Quite something , I am very surprised the forum is so quiet .. I Suspect some of the usual Winter members have no Idea about this upcoming Cold spell as they haven't bothered looking at the charts after this long boring spell .. I think there is still some debate on weather we will get an Easterly before the Northerly , but if we do convection will be so much better than last time , and for higher areas , that could bring some very heavy Snow showers (big flakes) . On to the 12z's On a Side note , it is good the timing of the Cold spell is now , as it would ruin the hospitality industries chance of making a profit , when they open outdoors only on 12th April , hopefully we will be warming up by then ..
  5. Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Cloudy on Saturday, then some light snow to the west overnight. Windy with snow and freezing rain for a time on Sunday, before turning to rain later. Milder by Monday. Updated: 16:00 (UTC) on Thu 11 Feb 2021
  6. I think our best chance is Saturday's front getting further into our region than the charts suggest Looks way to mild by Sunday night ...
  7. As The High Pressure builds North it is likely to kill off the precipitation ... by 9pm GFS has nothing left ..
  8. I'm starting to wonder if the Front will get in at all, I mean it was first shown as tomorrow , then Fri , then Sat , this morning Sunday and now Monday ... With High pressure over us now and the Cold block in place it may just keep getting pushed back.
  9. If you look at Iceland between +192 and +240 it is also retrogressing West ....
  10. Yep and if eventually the Scandi High retrogresses to Greenland , we could be extending the Cold well into March , and it quite often does in these situations ...
  11. The Last time , I remember all the Spring flowers got ruined outside Blackburn Cathedral (back in the day when I could go postal order every night lol . )
  12. yes . Blackburn didnt have as much where I live down the road in Darwen , the height here makes a big difference and we were picking showers up that Blackburn wasnt ... Was amazing taking the train from Blackburn to Darwen and see the Snow amounts increase ...
  13. Yeah Chorley is quite a bit further South than Blackburn , but If you follow the contour lines on the charts theres gonna be showers Coming from the East Coast all the way down the Coast , not like the streamer setup .. either way you will see Snow next week at some point what ever direction it comes from lol
  14. Every time in this setup . The Showers get all the way over to the West , and is this flow is even stronger than usual and even Colder would be expecting some Beefy Showers over Lancs / Manchester from Saturday night onwards ... The models have always been rubbish of predicting the extent of showers , and everything that falls will settle and stay so be a case of Snow building up over the week .
  15. That's normal in Leicester haha (was born there) From a Leicester point of view I actually think your in a good place to get precipitation from the Low and Showers from the East as it starts to pull South , maybe a wash streamer ....
  16. I wonder what will Happen to the Low pressure to the SW at +216 .. Height's arn't as strong as on the 00z ... Could be a Snow Maker if it tries to disrupt though ....
  17. Looking at +!68 everything looks primed for a SnowFest and the SE might actually do better than anyone else with the precipitation from that wave that develops . And Temps and Thickness are stil the right side of marginal in that setup.
  18. Don't know why everybody is so downbeat this afternoon, The Beast is still there on several models and ensembles ... WWW.METEOCIEL.FR Meteociel propose des cartes de prévisions du modèle americain GFS
  19. I can't see the ECM turning out Mild , look at all that blocking to the North , Any low coming against it will disrupt ..
