  1. And so is people telling us winter is over in the first week of January.
  2. Many back in the day… Still the best set up for many in the North West, Atlantic front coming in against cold air. one I remember, very well was about 87 or 88. Started snowing about 6 pm, I left the pub about 10pm and there was about 6 inches of snow, and the flakes were coming down the size of old pound notes. woke up next morning to patchy snow cover, the snow had turned to heavy rain during the night. Remember thinking to myself, all that magical snow gone !
  3. Showers taking their normal route via a North Westerly. Down the M61 and into the western parts of Manchester, then into south of Manchester. clear here
  4. Raining again here……. Judging the radar, should be a band of showers just to your south
  5. Seems our region had a slight thaw.. in between the 27th and the new year. I cannot remember this. But going of my video and your video, we can clearly see this.
  6. North Westerlies don’t really float my boat for this area. Needs more of a westerly influence for Greater Manchester. I remember only last winter, leaving Horwich and it was green. By the time I got to the Irlam area it was white. Seemed weird looking at winter hill all green and irlam and the Birchwood area of Warrington all white.
  7. Found these online. Old photos of Bolton & surrounding areas. the last photo is kids skating on doffcocker lodge ( now a nature reserve)
  8. You have my upmost respect. I understand what you are saying. back in the day, the local Bobby would give you a clip around the ear and a kick up the weeble.. then he took you home to your parents. we had respect back in the day for the local Bobby.

Was 33c today with wall to wall sunshine.on the other hand, Bolton was grey and miserable at 6c enjoy the rest of the festive season
  11. If the ECM leads to a scandi high & low pressure in the med, then I’ll settle for that right now !
  12. Unbelievable, what is happening with the models ?? when I saw this mornings runs, my towel was we’ll & truly thrown in. now the 12z U.K. met, has me picking my towel up again the MetO model has slain many a cold and snowy spell. It’s the one you want on your side.
