With gusts of up to 70mph+ in densely populated areas, surely places with tall buildings will create a ‘funnel effect’, thus further increasing the wind speeds locally?
-
Various Train Operating Companies are running to an amended service on Sunday with speed restrictions being imposed nationwide.
I expect there to be a lot of fallen trees and obstructions on the line and overhead wires.
-
What sort of disruption would 60-70mph gusts do to inland areas? I’m quite excited in terms of extremity but also at the same time it could potentially be quite serious.

What are the rainfall accumulations looking like? Does this pose any further risk of flooding in South Yorkshire? Thanks. -
Its been a mostly dull and very wet day here. Very different to what the BBC text forecast said; mostly dry with sunny spells, with only the odd chance of a shower..

Surprised the Met Office hasn’t issued a weather warning for the Midlands for heavy rain and strong winds yet?
-
Lovely day today in Liverpool, with blue skies and feeling pleasantly warm in the sun. I think the south have had it poor today, being stuck under cloud and rain pretty much all day but Midlands north it hasn’t been too bad.

Does anyone know what Saturday will be like? Specifically in the North West - Liverpool and Manchester areas.
I’ve seen people’s posts regarding the models in the main thread, as they are still uncertain on the low. Could make all the difference from a dry, cloudy day to a full washout.
-
Was half expecting it to be a washout day today, but it’s been quite the opposite in fact. Sunny intervals with a moderate breeze.
Nothing is really looking wet despite the rain we’ve had overnight.- 1

Sorry if this sounds daft but what is causing/causes this area of precipitation to intensify as it moves East?
-
Up to 40-50 mm of rain could fall Saturday night and into Sunday according to the Met Office. Details of where and when it could happen are still uncertain.

I can imagine quite a few fields are now waterlogged after all the rainfall we’ve had recently.
The question is, with the ground being so saturated, how much more rain can we take until flooding becomes an issue?
-
Today has the be one of the wettest days for many months for my location. It’s been raining constantly for many hours and even now there is a ‘heavy’ drizzle keeping things nice and wet.

Looks like a squall line has developed over Wales, heading E/ENE

Any chance of seeing or hearing anything thundery tonight? I see there’s a front approaching from the West.

I hope the UKV is wrong. The last few runs have been moving the worst of it East.
Please excuse my ignorance, but why don’t you want it to verify? Because you might miss out any potential storms or because of the disruption it could cause?
-
Looks like there’s some pretty beefy showers developing in the West/South West now.
-
What’s the potential looking like for Sunday?
-
Someone make the stuff approaching from the West ignite please

The precipitation that's currently in the SW of the country, is that of any interest for us tonight or will it just be bog standard rain?

Regarding Monday night into Tuesday, what’s the potential looking like?
I notice BBC’s interactive map show a band of precipitation moving north east over the early hours however there’s no graphics or anything in the text forecast to back this up?

For my area it seems there is a strong agreement of gusts of at least 60mph, with some models indicating gusts in the high 70's. I have a feeling the Met Office will extend their orange weather warning tomorrow to cover a significantly larger area.
