Torrential rain and sporadic lightning and thunder here in Leicester.

Is the precipitation more widespread than first anticipated? Particularly on the western extent?

Would be great if these storms tracked in a straight northerly direction.

Time to view the live radar instead of charts I think as we get closer to the event(s)…

Sometimes I think the South Coast and SE should be paired with France given that they have such marked contrasts compared to everywhere else

What I’m worried about is excessive amounts of cloud cover and clag from earlier decaying systems, limiting surface heating.
We always seem to get more than forecast cloud coverage prior to incoming storms.

Today's 15z UKV is interesting for Sunday....
North of the M4 event? (*sarcasm*)

Yup - anywhere north of the M4 is basically the artic circle.
The classic rain to snow boundary line

We’re in middle ground here in the Midlands - not too hot and not too cold.
I’ve noticed that sometimes the weather in the SE can be more common with the weather that parts of France get compared to the rest of the UK. Anywhere outside of the SE can sometimes be considerably cooler.
Though after a heatwave, it’s a relieve to get the fresher air sooner and not hold on to the warmth and humidity hanging over the near continent.

Been stuck under that thick band of cloud here all day, with a little bit of drizzle earlier.

Better than an eastwards trend, once it goes that way there’s never a westwards correction.
Absolutely. There’s nothing worse than a Kent Clipper

Was lovely and fresh this morning with the sun shining brightly, creating steam off the damp wooden fence. The best type of weather.
Looks like it’s clouding over widely now, however.

16 degrees here today with around 12mm of rain falling since this morning. Feeling much more cooler and comfortable compared to the hot and humid muck we had last week.

Much fresher and cooler today, along with a nice breeze.
Feel sorry for you guys in the SE who never really get rid of the hot and humid filth, along with little in the way of rain down there. There's a good 8 to 10 degrees difference in temperature tomorrow between the Midlands and the SE. I know which one I'd prefer to be in!- 4

Regarding Tuesday, what's the risk? Afternoon showers once the main band has sunk to the SE?

Google weather now showing 3 hours of thunderstorms for us this afternoon
Automated weather forecasts are useless in these situations. Use the live weather radar to track any oncoming storms.

Can’t wait for this horrid heat to do one. It’s going to feel so much nicer once we return to cooler and fresher conditions. Thankfully we've avoided any sort of prolonged heat thus far this year.
Summer, you can return next year, now do one

From an IMBY perspective its looking very tight. I've made a (very accurate(!)) overlay of the map. This is the current prediction for 10:00 tomorrow morning, from the UKV model.
Of course no model is 100% and there will be further updates so it'll be all eyes on the rain radar! I just hope it doesn't end up going too far East.

Skies are clearing nicely here in Leicester, with the sun and blue skies making an appearance. Hopefully this will aid for some nice beefy showers later on.

No thunder here today but we've had moderate to heavy rain for a good few hours here which I'm happy with.

Certainly a lot of rainfall for The South West, parts of The East, The Midlands and South Yorkshire today. It'd be interesting to see the rainfall totals.
The South seems to have largely escaped any useful and much needed rainfall it seems.

Well this is the UKV for 11pm v's actual radar
@summer blizzard,it looks like lincolnshire and down into the west midlands is the sweet spot from lunch time but i wouldn't trust these as shown above.
That has the Midlands written all over it.
