  1. Just about to arrive at work so haven’t the time to check them! What’s the outlook?
  2. Looking like there could be more of ENE component to tonight’s wind direction? That could be the sweet spot for a Thames Streamer and some good snowfall in S Essex.... MetO and whoever else can predict “1-3cm” as much as they like but I’m not convinced even those “supercomputers” can calculate accurately how much moisture will be whipped up off the North Sea. We could get more of the white stuff than people think.
  3. The old mantra rings true here. Get the pattern that we want established first......worry about precipitation afterwards.
  4. UKMO has come off the fence somewhat anyway, much more closely aligned to ECM/GEM now.
  5. It hasn’t been any more consistent than ECMWF and GEM though.....just consistently in another direction.
  6. Why have so many people said that the METO is closer to the ECM then? :-/
  7. Then who, or what, do we believe/rely on? Met Office is saying more snow for me through til mid-evening. I'll be most disappointed if it's not true.
  8. Snow seems to have stopped here in City of London. Not sure about at home in Southend, Essex though. Met Office forecasting more snow for both areas today, especially Southend.....do we think they’re right?
  9. Very slushy snow on ground in the City. Precip has gone sleety for now. Got my fingers crossed that MetO is accurate and that I’ll be back to heavy snow later.
  10. Left the house in Leigh-on-Sea at 7.30am just as the rain was transitioning to heavy snow. Onshore wind having an effect there as I’m now on the train into London and the South Essex corridor all the way along the Thames from Benfleet to West Ham (so far) is experiencing heavy snowfall and decent settling. Will be interested to see whether anything has stuck in Leigh when I get back this evening. Working in the City all day and bizarrely the forecast is better - heavier snow and lower temps than Leigh, and all for longer. So I might do better for snow in the City believe it or now. We’ll see though, looks like today will be a very marginal “nowcasting” type of day!
  11. Hmmmm could my little corner of SE Essex be slowly coming into play for the next couple of days? ?
  12. Yep, I’m just on the boundary between the light blue and the green lines on Steve’s isotherm graphic. Here’s hoping for a south easterly movement before the event...
  13. Christ alive, barely see 2 in our hometown let alone on a weather forum ?
  14. Looks like we’re out of luck tomorrow unless there is a last minute big move in store for this pocket of warmer air which is looking to give us rain rather than snow! I continue to hope, I think this will still probably change up to the last minute on Sunday but I think we’ll be out of luck. Monday looks similar. 6 degrees forecast for me in Southend. What is it about Monday’s chances that I’m missing? Or is it a case of deal with Sunday first and then look at Monday later? Either way, this setup is never good for this of us in the south east. Need to pray to the weather Gods that the signal for rising heights to our NE after Christmas verify. We really need to get those Easterlies in.
