25.4mm picked up at 9am for previous 24hrs, Fortunate here having big trees sheltering on SW and W. So only one slate slipped. Lumps of mortar drilled out of west facing house wall overnight by the vicious horizontal rain from Dublin. Electric stayed on though! Light showers in the roaring wind this afternoon. Temp now 6.9C.

Total snow cover here still, though dropped by dark to 3 cm from the 6 cm at early afternoon. Spent an hour clearing pathways near the house, hoping they'll be ice free in the morning. . Soft damp snow - probably good for for making snowmen, but alas no time. However have time to eat that spare Christmas pudding for tea.

It's just been out usual NW targeted precipitation in another form. I.5C now and maybe snow has just stopped and there's fine drizzle about. W wind picked up . 6 cm depth plastered all over. Cloud base lifted 100ft or so on the fe'kers. What do we think about those showers coming from NI? I'm fed up with this damp sunless cold already .... just put a spare Christmas pudding in oven to boil up for later..
