  1. Roaring wind. Feels chilly despite "mildness". Not a night for wearing a kilt.
  2. Really fierce SW wind now. Rained steadily and heavily today till mid afternoon.
  3. 25.4mm picked up at 9am for previous 24hrs, Fortunate here having big trees sheltering on SW and W. So only one slate slipped. Lumps of mortar drilled out of west facing house wall overnight by the vicious horizontal rain from Dublin. Electric stayed on though! Light showers in the roaring wind this afternoon. Temp now 6.9C.
  4. Electricity NW seems to be getting a huge numbers of faults reported. Horrible night for climbing poles or moving fallen trees from wires or taking machinery over sodden ground.   9. Not much snow has shift yet. Seems a cold thaw to me. Temp 3,1C. All cloudy now and there's a chilly wind. Snowdops are wary, even on a warm sheltered south facing bank.
  10. Same here though we had a shower of soft hail about 9 GMT. Will be a good while before we warm up properly. Stone buildings are now very cold, though south sides are warming a bit in the weak sunshine this afternoon. Temp now 3.6c

  12. Max today been 0.7 c. If air starts to come from NW or W we might have some snow showers. As they say up here when snow lingers on the ground - " it will take more to take it away".
  13. Was waving and freezing despite the sun. Been some walkers an the paths today.
  14. Calm, blue skies and sun. Plenty of snow left up here though thawed off the south facing slopes. Min temp last night minus 5.9c. Now minus 1.3c. Lots of ice. Glaciers where water is still streaming from the sodden fields.
  15. Blue sky, sun and snow cover and icy this morning. Min overnight minus 3.8C. Barn owl having a tummy toasting warm up at 9am after working all night in the cold.
  16. Total snow cover here still, though dropped by dark to 3 cm from the 6 cm at early afternoon. Spent an hour clearing pathways near the house, hoping they'll be ice free in the morning. . Soft damp snow - probably good for for making snowmen, but alas no time. However have time to eat that spare Christmas pudding for tea.

  18. It's just been out usual NW targeted precipitation in another form. I.5C now and maybe snow has just stopped and there's fine drizzle about. W wind picked up . 6 cm depth plastered all over. Cloud base lifted 100ft or so on the fe'kers. What do we think about those showers coming from NI? I'm fed up with this damp sunless cold already .... just put a spare Christmas pudding in oven to boil up for later..
  19. Suspect councils are hoping for afternoon rain before risk of frost. Won't want to waste salt.
