Happy new year everybody!

Got down to -4.1c last night! A proper frost that covered the trees and bushes too but it is melting away now.

Cold rain here but actually looks like it's getting heavier on the radar as it goes south?

Depends on how heavy it is when it reaches us I think.

Met Office Update: "An Atlantic frontal system looks likely to bring rain into parts of southwestern Britain on Wednesday. As this moves further east into colder air there is a chance of this rain turning to snow. The extent of any snow is very uncertain, but 2 to 5 cm could fall across a swathe of southern Wales and southern England, with a small chance of 10 to 15 cm settling in a few places, most likely on high ground above 200 metres. As the rain and snow clears on Wednesday night there is a risk of widespread ice forming on untreated surfaces." Looks like it is all very uncertain still, people may get some surprises tomorrow evening but who knows...

I feel the same but I think I'm just being pessimistic as all we've gotten out of this cold spell so far is rain.

Rained this morning even though the conditions were right for snow.

No snow here! Maybe we will get some later... windy.com suggesting some snow in the afternoon as the front pivots and heads south.

Temperature dropped by almost a degree under a small shower then and it's not even dark yet! Maybe we could be getting some snow this evening in the showers?

I don't know the answer as I think it will end up being a nowcast. Hopefully, we all get some snow though

I hope we are lucky and all get some snow come Monday.

I probably won't have time tomorrow but I hope everybody has a Merry Christmas! Hopefully everyone enjoys it and let's all hope for some snowfall in the next couple of weeks!

It's not annoying having a few posts talking about the 850 temps being too hot. Having entire pages filled up with people complaining is what is annoying. @snowking did an amazing post earlier and I wish people could leave it with that. These charts are not bad (it snowed in essex earlier in the month with uppers higher than currently forecast) and we should be much more confident than last year.

Just had a very heavy burst of graupel. Settled on the grass too!

Wouldn't that be nice? Can't get my hopes up but I'm sure we would all welcome a white christmas after the year we've had?

Today has been chilly but the sun has been out a few times. It may have snowed here this morning reading the messages of other people close by but I probably slept through it

Welcome to the West Country ! I live just on the edge of the cotswolds and have been up there in the snow, during the BFTE in 2018, cars were completely stranded up on the hilltops along the A46 so it has happened recently. We also can be the luckiest when it comes to the channel lows etc, in February 2019 we got a proper snow event when the rest of the country got almost nothing! Very nice for the first day of Winter. Sunny and bright, very seasonal. Hoping that we can all get some cold and snow at some point this winter!
