  1. Yet the MO forecast summary (Fri-Tues) for the South East does not mention any sleet let alone snow for our area. This was the update at 4am so to then have a warning out a few hours later seems odd to me. I guess the wording will change this afternoon to reflect an increased risk!
  2. Nice while it lasted. Pretty rare for East Kent to fare better than West!
  3. Thanks for explaining. I wondered why the MO video showed snow an hour or so after the initial band came through and not immediately. We're certainly due a bit of luck after the 'wrong side of marginal' events in recent weeks!
  4. Yes for once this set up might be quite beneficial for us on the north coast of the county if we get up early enough that is. Just a shame it won't be around for long
  5. Yep - just the 60m too! I used to live nearer the town and worked in Canterbury and lost count of the times when there was nothing on the ground at home but by the time I got to Herne/Wildwood there was a decent covering.
  6. It had been most of the time but I'm a couple of miles inland with a little elevation and it pepped up momentarily so that must have made a difference. Took a video but unable to upload it!
  7. A two minute wet snow shower here near to the coast. Promising for tomorrow!
  8. Fingers crossed for a couple of hours of falling snow here in H.Bay in the morning. Some unexpected sleety drizzle currently here and nearest weather station (Manston) has DP below zero atm so may see a few flakes if intensity picks up!
  9. I'm old enough to remember the 80s snow events in Thanet. The words 'marginal on the coasts' was rarely mentioned on TV forecasts from what I recall. Those days are long gone I'm afraid
  10. I'm only a lurker on the MAD thread or any other thread to be honest but more than ever I go straight to the date on any chart posted now and if it's 5 or more days away I tend to ignore it. The good stuff is so often 8+ days away but hopefully the effects of the SSW start to come into a more reliable range this week.
  11. Earlier snow on some surfaces has already melted (I'm only couple of miles from coast and dp above freezing) so prospects this end of East Kent do not look good
  12. Just had a walk here and it was quite strange as turned foggier again yet light snow (snizzle) falling at the same time
  13. The sky here in Herne Bay has gone from that leaden grey look to that orange tint we often associate with snow. Either that or my eyesight is suffering as I squint through the kitchen window!
  14. Appreciate wind switches from a NE direction later but it is so frustrating for us in East Kent watching areas of wintry precipitation moving south into Belgium for hours on end. Almost as if it knows covid rates are so high here Much like those thunderstorms in the summer that never seem to make it over the channel from France.
  15. The netweather radar shows that sleet in exactly the same place over a 30min period so probably a glitch
  16. Can report sleet shower here (Herne Bay), only a mile inland at 60m asl
  17. Being from East Kent, I'm as desperate for snow as anyone but I can't help think that if these showers coming in to the North East of England are still rain/sleet at best today, it seems very unlikely that a system from the west tomorrow is going to bear fruit for us, aside from the downs. That damn ECM getting our hopes up
