Nice to see the snow falling here during the night. Still hanging around here at the moment but expect it will melt later before turning to ice. MAD thread has the usual idiots saying 'winters over' , blah blah. Will they never learn? Or even speak English as they seem to have their own code half the time which I find infantile lol.
Looking forward to the next snowy spell anyhow as I'm sure it won't be too long. Hopefully around the Xmas period.

Yes but in those days all they had for long range forecasts were, dodgy weather balloons, seaweed and Wincey Willises left knee as as a pressure gauge!
And these days we have what exactly? Dodgy models that are always 10 days out? No clue what the weather will do in 4 days? Nothing really changed.

They never learn in the mad thread. They wouldn't notice six feet of snow outside cos they're too busy looking at models.

Looks like we're missing out on this one I guess. Still, it's not raining. A small win.

All mention of snow next week seems to have disappeared? I'm guessing this is due to the models being all sorts at the moment? Anyway, still it's nice and frosty and not raining so I'll take that.

Cos this is the UK. We're not allowed prolonged wintry weather cos we're floating about in the Atlantic. If its damp, miserable and wet weather you want we're in the perfect place.

Rain is ok but its just rain. Boring, muddy, mild rain. Back to the norm.

Thats all folks
until the next time
So, time to enjoy this snow tonight whilst it's still here, albeit briefly, but when do we think we'll have another snow event? Hints that next weekend is looking much colder again after the coming weeks milder interlude.

Watch the snow. You can watch emgland lose to England anytime lol

Getting heavier as I left Bedlinog. Bit lighter through Treforest but heavier now in Church Village. Looks like its In for the day. Interesting drive home I reckon. Better crack on then. Happy snow day you lot.

I'm going to roll a huge snowball and FedEx it to Jay. If I get snow on Sat.

And my mate is still a knob.

I think winter has more to give. Experience says we don't have this cold and prolonged snow showers (or prolonged agony, delete as appropriate) without a decent snowstorm. We'll see.

I’ve been a member on this weather forum for 10 years plus...then a couple of others before that. I can honestly say, and no offence to anyone, but the ability to accurate predict weather more than a week out as not really improved at all. Teleconnections as seen as a step forward but I think for our small country in the location it is in I doubt wether anyone could ever foresee our weather as it’s so difficult. If our experts were tasked to predict weather in larger land masses like the US I think the success would be much higher. Stick your head out the window is the way forward for us unfortunately
I completely agree and model watching provides very, very little information apart from wind and rain which is, unfortunately, our main weather.

Well there we go guys and girls. Let's write this off and move on to the next cold spell. Onwards and upwards.

There is some truth in that (sort of). There’s an 18th century Welsh proverb ‘Eira mân, eira mawr‘ which loosely translates as ‘little snow, big snow’....
When you have big snowflakes it means conditions are much more marginal and it’s much more likely to turn to rain or melt as there’s probably milder air trying to mix in...Smaller flakes usually means that the cold air is much more entrenched and the snow would last for longer like with the beast from the east in 2018 when we had fine powdery snow but it accumulated significantly
My mate is still a knob though.

Well I still think Thursday and Friday could be exciting.
On a similar subject. As today has been snowing very finely, almost dust like, I remember an old friend once told me that 'small snow means big snow'. I.e small flakes equals more lying snow'. At first I never believed him. But after years of following the weather I've come to realise that's he's a complete knob.

ECM should be rolling out now, fingers crossed. Surely if we have cross model agreement there will be warnings issued tomorrow?
Yup. And stop calling me shirley.

I hope so. That lot in the south east are going to have a meltdown. They then may actually realise Wales exists.
