ECM 06z has a slightly more direct Northerly than the 0z with a better block into Greenland, a move towards UKMO/ICON early on it looks like.

If we see these trends continue on the 12z suites could be a decent set of upgrades on the 0z runs, and if they do means a very high chance that the low does end up moving through France.

barely a glancing blow on those frames, the northerly fast becoming a NW'ly barely affecting anywhere south of the Midlands

I would say that from a Scottish perspective, we will be at day 7/8 come the morning where the real turning point takes place.

In my neck of the woods, these are genuine Nirvana charts, producing copious amounts of snow from the NE at a perfect angle.

Which is why I personally won't be getting excited until Sunday night - at which point, I'll be glad I booked off the week of the week commencing the 15th as I'll be skiing most days.

I so hope you're correct - and hope that i'm not too close to the coast to join in the fun !

Either way, exciting times ahead . . .

This must be one of few strange years where Scotland have pretty much kept up with places in the South East for sunshine levels. Places like Prestwick, Aberdeen, Tiree etc all aren't that far off my nearest station Shoeburyness for sunshine. I'm struggling to understand how Scotland, being so far north, are pretty much matching us down in the South! Anyway, surely this must be one of the sunniest years on record for parts of Scotland?

I moved to the Highlands (Nairn) from Leigh on Sea at the beginning of last year. We are fortunate here in Nairn as we are in the 'shadows' of the mountains which tend to keep the rain and cloud and leave us with clear skies which is great for the aurora during the autumn and winter months. I was told that Nairn has its own microclimate before I moved here and, having spent the last 18 months here I have to say that it's true !

Nairn- my hometown - no better place to live in the whole of the UK. Some cracking winters there back in the day - I had a paper round winter of 1980/81 - great fun in the snow 😂

It's a wonderful place and we chose a perfect place to relocate to - quaint and relatively unspoilt, long summer days and longer winter nights.

Stunning scenery, stunning beaches and the benefit of Inverness on our doorstep.

Anyway, best get back on topic . . .

Isn't it strange how we have very few Scottish members. Maybe they just get it every year so it's no big deal. It does look like a white one there

I visit both this and the Scotland thread.

I am sure that other people north of the border do the same, however I do find that there is very little mention of Scottish weather on this thread with contributors seeming to comment on weather that will affect their local/areas of England - a point I have made recently when weather charts were posted which went as far as the England/Scotland border.

    How inclusive !!!
