  1. Heavy snow here in Holmbury St Mary now for getting on for 2 hours, certainly getting on for a couple of inches now. Best it’s been all week.
  2. This week has highlighted many thing for me. 1) That modelling, even in ths digital age, is still remarkably unreliable for some weather events depsite what the “public’ are told about the increasing accuracy of forecasting. 2) the population as a whole do not have the resilience that they had 5 years ago, let alone 27 years ago. To hear a man virtually crying in tantrum on the SE news that he couldn’t get his train to Tonbridge was laughable. Prevously there would have been a typically British shrug of the shoulders and gone to the pub instead after helping their neightbours out first. In all honesty, if the freeze of 87 or the great storm in 87 happened today, those of us that were there, got on and enjoyed those events, would be laughing at todays “managers” for the handling of such crisis!! Perhaps thats why so many us who grew up then love weather!! Sorry to drag on...and also I am aware that I didn’t politely introduce myself the other day when I joined the forums (i got carreid away in the snowy moment!). Watching, and occasionally commenting, this week has been enjoyable, frustrating (especially being too close to Horley, Horsham, Dorking, Reigate clearly to get proper snow ??) but most of all illuminating that the spirit of the 80’s community feeling still exists throughout the SE!! Quite understand if no-one responds!
  3. BBC SE news really making this a monumental historic event.... Really think they're making a meal of our all.... It's hardly been as bad as recent memory let alone more than 15 years ago..... Sorry if this upsets some but too many people are becoming overtly wuussy and to ready to blame....
  4. It is certainly windier here in the Surrey Hills than it has been all week
  5. It's certainly broken down in the channel, but pepping up on the French coast. Is there also some new action developing in the Thames estuary
  6. After stalling in the channel for an hour or so, it seems to have started moving again... Still snowing in the Surrey Hills. Couple of inches here. Bitterly cold and blowing a hooley
  7. Heavy but small flakes in Holmbury St Mary. Beeb say heaviest snow from 15:00 is going to stop 3mile to west of us.....
  8. Finally...the heaviest it’s been all day in the Surrey Hills, maybe the snow shield has broken......
  9. It'll miss our little pocket and dump the whole lot on them... Probably even dump on the south coast for good measure first
  10. Been very feeble in the Surrey Hills all morning, virtually stopped completely! M''eh is a very good explanation. Very unimpressed.. So far
  11. Nothing of any real substance or note here in the Surrey Hills, been very disappointing this week
  12. ???Barely a dusting overnight here in the Surrey Hills and only fine light flurries now.... If this doesn't come here.. ..
  13. Couldn't agree more. Normally we're inundated in Holmbury while everyone else is still green... Looking forward to the morning
  14. Think we really have been the only part of Surrey not have been invited to the party!
  15. 43 in November, can remember sledging on Haywards Heath Golf Course in 81 or 82
