East Anglia and North London weather discussion (25/02/2018) onward

Met Office still has Southend down for heavy snow for another hr or two, even though is stopped about an hr ago......they obvious arent too fussed about up to date forecasts -
Radar says its rain, but the temp down there looks still to be at or below freezing! Anyone from south coast confirm whether thats rain, freezing rain....or massive outside chance its snow?

Just spin up the wheels everywhere you go, the odo will get to 500 miles long before you've travelled 500miles lol -
Yeh, seems to have been quite patchy in places......still, we've had well over a foot of snow over the week, shame it melted a lot tuesday, but its pretty rare around these parts to have this amount of snow for nearly a week, so cant grumble whatsoever!! Looks like it'll all be gone by sunday night, but who knows!

I know, amazing isnt it...all suddenly started building up in the Thames........this beast is just full of surprises!
-
Watching it die off in north kent, I'd decided thats it as the snow has been dying in the thames, and then building up again just after southend....but wow.....its suddenly built up in front of us, and now giving moderate snowfall! This literally is the last and final fall originating from nothing, so wow, what a week with some complete surprises!!!

Shame its all over, but its been a great week!!! Everyone's had something by the looks of it....proper communist winter haha. Strange thing is, we've had heavy snow most of the week, and today was supposed to be heavy (ish) but we've had minor flurries in Southend. It just breaks up as it goes over the Thames....anyone got any ideas why? Its clear the front is pretty much done, but the MetOffice have updated their forecast in the last hour to say we're due heavy snow here till 10pm!! Are they really that bad at forecasting, or do they know something we dont?

I must admit this snow spell has been quite interesting. Early week, a lot of people were moaning that nothing much would come of it, then tuesday/wed a lot of people had some significant snowfall, but a lot also didnt, and were quite fed up! After today, it looks as though nearly everyone has had some decent amounts of snow at some point in the week. And whats even more bizarre, is that the areas with large snowfalls already, dont seem to have had much today, whereas those who've not had much already, are now getting dumped on today! Mother nature's communist side haha! -
Had the same light flurries in Southend....it seems to break up around this area, and then intensify again! Still, we've had well over a foot of snow fall throughout the week, and still have 3-4in laying, so we've done fairly well I reckon!!!

Been watching the radar.....seems to build up once its gone past us, but isnt building up before us....yet anyway!

Looking at the radar, the very SE corner of Essex is probably gonna miss the heavy snow, as its building up once it hits land........looking good for north essex though!! -

We've got freezing drizzle here in Southend area....not been out so dont know what the roads are like, but seems to be a bit of a patch heading our way, so watch this space! -
I know its not this region, and I'm no expert lol, but I reckon there could be some light to moderate flurries over South Essex

Im no expert, but I'm going for some light to moderate flurries in South Essex -
I wouldn't give up entirely just quite yet. It does seem to be slowly building up northwards in the channel, but very slowly, so probably be a few hours before we know for certain haha

It's looking like its blocking to the east over the channel, but it did that earlier and it eventually broke through, and there's the chance/hope of it swinging round, so dont get too excited in Essex/EA....but dont give up hope either....its gonna be a long night radar staring!! -
Yeh, dont go by light pink....leave the weather type off to get a better idea.....as far as I can tell, no heavy snow has reached the south kent coast yet, but give it 20mins or so!!

Yup......unless the entire storm has just stopped moving haha -
Well going by Hirlam 12z and what the current radar shows, I'm going with the NE corner of the storm breaking out NE and just catching N Kent and S Essex. Its not wishful thinking because I doubt there'll be much snowfall, but I reckon there'll be a tad!....unless it turns to rain of course haha

It would be another amazing night radar watching if it does hit this region, but although I'm a relative newbie and its simply my opinion, it does look as though the eastern edge has already started moving NW :(.....really hoping something magical happens though! -

Dont throw out all hope....last night and this morning was all unpredictable, so we may end up with more snow to come....who knows!! -

A lot of the more rural and open parts of SE Essex are treacherous. The blizzards running through some of the country lanes are crazy for this part of the country. Snow drifts higher than my car, and vis no further than the front of my bonnet in some cases!! This is definitely the longest and most disruptive spell I've seen in my lifetime (in this part of the country at least!) -

There's still plenty of snow due for Leigh-on-Sea looking at the radar! I reckon pretty much most of South Essex will get some snow fall, with the heaviest/bigger clump being east coast up to suffolk......going by the radar at least!
