  1. Just had a heavy snow shower - lasted about 15 mins with strong winds. Hasn't settled at all though.
  2. Sleet here now. We ended up with about 3cm of snow, maybe 5cm away from roads and traffic. Despite not being a huge amount its still the largest accumulation since i moved here in 2002. And Robert - you do a good job. You have within a day predicted something weeks ago which the Met Office failed to predict hours before.
  3. The forcefield has been destroyed. How long will this snow last?
  4. Snow falling very heavy here (Mickleover) with thick flakes. Definitely sticking - i'd say about 2cm but building up quickly. Went to Cannock Chase this afternoon - some very heavy snow there - i reckon about 10cm away from the roads but the roads were getting a bit dicey too. Not sure how it is there now!
  5. Should i wait for snow to get through the Derby forcefield or drive out west?
  6. Derby kind of missed out yesterday also - we had about an inch - but over the space of about 8 hours. There must've been more overnight as i just took my 3 year old out and there was about 2 inches on the ground plus minor roads were covered again. Wasn't expecting anything today so if its going to come this far it will be a bonus.
  7. I doubt its raining. I was there about an hour and a half ago and it was snowing and at just -2C. Can't see temperature rising as it turns dark. Plus Buxton is at about 1000ft asl so its even less likely.
  8. Just posted in the snow reports that up in the Derbyshire Peak District it was -2C this afternoon with light snow falling onto a frozen 10cm of snow (drifts up to 30cm). Not sure if some of this was already there before todays event though. As for Saturday - would be really nice if there was another dumping of snow. Robert, if you ae there, could you tell me if you are still holding onto your prediction of snow on the 10th?
  9. Got fed up of the hardly accumulating little flurries we were getting today in Derby so i took a drive up to the Peak District - around Axe Edge to be exact. Up there was about 10cm of very hard and frozen level snow but with drifts up to about 20-30cm. Temperatures rose to a very impressive -2C
  10. Snow stopped now and a light thaw B) Wheres this 10-15cm we were forcasted. We've managed about an inch which is not enough to take the kids out for the sledging session i promised them. And what about the forecast for this to go until 9pm. Its only midday and over!!!! BBC News 24 Kirsty McCabe said snow on Saturday but not as much as today. Thats inaccurate as some people will not have as much (ie South Midlands/South Wales/London etc) but others should get more (ie Northern England). I think BBC are only interested in what happens around London and any snow in Northern England is not important. Moan over!!!!
  11. About an inch here now. Very light snow for past hour - is it going to get another kick up the ar5e or is that it?
  12. The met office site is still showing snow over us by 9pm this evening!!! That would mean 15 hours of snowfall - even if its light there will end up a good covering.
  13. Cheers for that. Looks like the snow is moving from SE to NW to the noth of the front. Snow coming down a little heavier now .
  14. Has the front stalled now? Som, your post has given me some real hope!
  15. Lots of small flakes falling here and winds getting up. From the sounds of it the band of snow is not fizzling yet so i'm in hope for some heavier stuff this morning.
  16. Light snow falling in Derby - not sure when it started as i was asleep but theres about 1cm on the ground and it is very gradually starting to fall heavier. Local weather say its going to last all morning and then ease in the afternoon so several hours likely. A nice lift after BBC weather nearly had me committing suicide last night.
  17. I'm not happy - i feel let down again. It just had to get that little bit further
  18. According to BBC forecast it doesn't get as far north as Derby until later and then it'll be dying out - and there was me thinking that Derby was finally going to see some snow. Oh well, enjoy it down south
  19. Can anyone predict how far the heavy snow is going to get yet, local forecast are going for up to 10/15cm in Derby and yet others are predicting the heaviest snow further south. Is it still a case of wait and see?
