  1. Woke up this morning to light dusting of snow - probably about 5mm worth
  2. In reply to this topic i'd definitely say yes. Since 2003 i have been snow watching in winter and in both 2005 and 2006 the best footage was taken in March. Last winter especially, other than at the end of Dec 05 there was little real snow until March 06 when there were several snow days on offer. In mid March i was walking in snow up to 6 feet deep on top of the Peak District.
  3. Any ideas if there is any snow over the tops of the Derbyshire Peak District? Some of the higher parts are over 600 metres so i'm thinking it may be possible.
  4. Summer 2006 for me in Derby can be briefly summarised as hot and sunny June/July and then a wetter and cool August. As a storm chaser i have to say this year has been my best so far (i started chasing in 2004). Yes there are some parts that saw very little storm activity (i.e. parts of the south east)- but overall i think that there has been a real abundance of storms. Best storms of the year for me: May 10th - North Wiltshire June 12th - Humberside July 22nd - Derbyshire July 26th - Norfolk August 23rd - Worcestershire
  5. Went chasing today and by 7pm was left dissapointed as had only seen a few heavy showers with the odd rumble. By 8Pm was witnessing an absolute corker out in the countryside around Worcester. There were numerous CG's and lightning at least once every 3 seconds. The rain was incredible with lots of flooding to tackle as i drove through Worcester city centre chasing the storm. Great stuff!!! For me it is storm of the summer!!!
  6. Just got back from storm chasing. Got my first thunderstorm around Dereham in Norfolk - almost continuous lightning but very little thunder - got some cool footage. Then on my way back home i intercepted a storm around east Nottingham which gave some great night lightning plus a lot of rain water to drive through. Arrived home to Derby and its bone dry!
  7. I know what you mean Rob - i live in Derby too and it seems the rain never actually reaches here. Last week there were plenty of places that saw thunderstorms but we got very little (2 rumbles and 3 mins of rain). People think the Midlands have done better in the last 2 years for thunderstorms and this is true but Derby seems to not be included in this. Candice - isn't the saying 'when one door opens another slams shut in your face'?
  8. Welcome home guys - you must have lived your dream out there, i know i would have done Cannot wait for the video's - should provide us all with some great viewing. Here's to you all
  9. Great stuff - u lucky things. Can't wait to see the picccies and video's. Keep up the good work and keep having a great time!!!!
  10. Very warm and humid. Sunshine replaced with cloud but no rain. Sitting tight awaiting the storms (if they come)!!!
  11. Who says there wasn't much snow!!! This was me up in the Derbyshire Peak District yesterday :o
  12. Not a single flake here in Derby.... What annoys me is that every time there is a cold spell - whether it be from the N the NE or the E we in the Midlands will miss out!!!! originally i was supposed to wake up this morning to 5cm, and there is nothing!!!! Can someone tell me if this cold spell has been downgraded or if it is now ONLY likely to affect the east of the country?
