  1. LLWA, sorry for not responding to your pm. Too excited with the massive snow events. We now have 3 ins  I am still expecting 7 ins+ tomorrow especially after the heavier snow later in the morning
  2. Paul, If you do not mind me asking, has JH been in touch regarding this snow event? Bet he is excited for many of us right now
  3. HEAVY SNOW IS FALLING AND WE HAVE 2 INS SO FAR. WE ARE EXPECTING 7 INS + BY TOMORROW ESPECIALLY WHEN EVEN HEAVIER SNOW ARRIVES LATE MORNING. TEMP IS CURRENTLY -3c
  4. We will get 6 inches ++ by tomorrow especially when we get the heavier snow late Monday morning
  5. The RED ALERT is for the 6 inches ++ we will get tomorrow, but I see what you mean as well <_<
  6. Quite a bit of snow here in Croydon. In fact, heavy snow is falling as I type
  7. Would you be surprised if significant snow falls on Thursday? I wouldn't
  8. Expect 4 - 6 inches by tomorrow :o Don't be surprised if many places exceed 6 inches in the SE
  9. This is what I was getting so excited about yesterday. We received major alerts yesterday which prompted me to get the gritting team together. Everyone turned up and gasped when they saw the severe alert from the MetO. There is much more interesting snowy weather to come.
  10. What a day it's been for the brave gritting team. We have been gritting since last night and staff are starting to get a little tired with vehicles occasionally breaking down. Salt stock is reducing at an alarming rate but I think we should be ok for the rest of the season. We have used over 1000 tons since November 2008. We are expecting several inches of snow over night into tomorrow., hence the severe weather warning the MetO have realised for the SE including London Gritting teams will be deployed all night into tomorrow. Believe this or not, but the whole team are really excited as some have not seen this extreme snowfall before or over 10 years. Just a few cm's of snow here right now.
  11. Just before I go and brief the gritting crew, the mild section will not materialise as first thought. Later model runs will show this today. We are in for a very snowy period from late afternoon into Wednesday. I'll be back online this evening.
  12.   I'm referring to the chart PB just posted
  13. Interesting info should be fed through by the MetO soon I would have thought. No wonder the MetO are not forecasting past Monday.
  14. PS, this is going to a fascinating snowy period for all of us and I was dancing around the room when the latest info was sent not long ago. As JH and I have said so many times, the paying folk get info fed to them instantly.
  15. We have been given a severe snow warning for late Sunday to Tuesday. Everyone is on standby and ready to deployed. Some are smiling because they have not seen this sort of weather for over 10 years. PS...........Spare a thought for those in Southern Australia. The temp there is 44c
  16. Good chart, but should be further West Francis Wilson from Sky News Weather has indicated that the snow will continue into Tuesday.
  17. Nope, he got the last cold period spot on.
  18. Check this out http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/article.aspx?cp-...&ocid=today
  19. Joe the plumber from Accuweather is going for a very cold Feb. Remember, he got the last very cold period correct. Enjoy ANOTHER HARSH BLOW FROM WINTER COLD COMING TO EUROPE! The major blocking developing over the Northern Hemisphere means another round of severe cold is going to engulf Europe. The current pattern of storms, and milder weather, will break to a much colder pattern as the block backs west and arctic air comes south into Scandinavia and then spreads out. This will make this the coldest winter for Europe as a whole in years. This time, if one wants to find fault, it may be that I was slow in the cold coming. While I believe the worst of the cold is probably a couple of weeks away, the development of the much colder pattern will be in full swing next week. So while the coldest may be two to three weeks away, the turn to colder is coming quicker. I am hopeful that such sharp reminders of the cold will encourage the populace not to accept without question the idea that our planet has a global crisis caused by warming, and instead arm themselves with knowledge from all sources, including... and this is radical, the actual weather. My opinion of course is that this is just the start of what will become a more frequent occurrence in 10-20 years and beyond, and I am open about that, but I do understand as finite being dealing with the infinite I could be wrong. Moral is, look for yourself, and I am confident you will see the reason for the skepticism in many of us. I think that is what weather like what is coming can help us with, if we are open-minded. Open minds, warm hearts, and plenty of warm clothes is what is needed in the upcoming few weeks for most of Europe. I am not monitoring forecast ideas, but it will be interesting to see if various euro government agencies are as hyped up about the coming cold as I am. This looks formidable, at least in my book. Thanks for reading. Ciao for now.
  20. We in the UK are so lucky this severe storm missed us. Take a look at the BBC footage. It really is very bad in France and Spain. Let's all pray Nick is ok as his area got hit very badly indeed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7848719.stm
  21. MetO have added the S/SW/SE to their Flash warnings of severe or extreme weather section http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...t_warnings.html
  22. Croydon actually had some snow during the early hours today :o I was shocked as this was not forecast. I decided to drive around and the trees were snowy and frosty at -4.5c Right now it is a mild 1c
