The met office app is worse than useless.
Can't even get a nowcast right.
Been snowing moderately since 11am here and it keeps saying dry and cloudy!
MetO app is showing a rain symbol right now for Shirley, Croydon, but there is a problem with this................It's actually snowing and getting heavier too

I guess key question was that expected. If yes ok. If no. It is news, but relevant in this region?
As you know, KNMI named the current storm 'Darcy' which is what they are enduring as a Snow Code Red right now. This storm is heading for the UK - SE quadrant, so we will know in due course by the MetO if this will have a bearing on our shores. Interesting times ahead

Will that have any bearing on us though?
This will be looked into by the MetO

I am certainly jealous of the Dutch tonight !
The UK MetO will be looking into this new Snow Code Red which has been issued by their Dutch counterparts. Don't be surprised if the MetO upgrade the snow potential

Didn't realise that, must have missed something juicy in my frequent absences from the forum.
He, along with Kold Weather and a couple of others (think one was a mod with a weather related username - Icono...??) were my go-to posters for their analysis on the various models and had a decent amount of knowledge and experience to back up their thoughts.
Glad Yamkin is still here too, not seen as much ramping as I seem to remember from back then though!!
Hope everyone in the region gets something from the next few days, cheers
I'll be picking up the keys to my new icy home next week

Any news from the Croydon Borough?
I assume the Army and the Royal Marines are on standby? @yamkin ??
Believe it or not, if Croydon Council or any other council required assistance from the army, the government would deploy the army right away
All gritting teams have all been briefed and the gritters are all primed & loaded.
The crucial part for any gritters is to not grit whilst it's raining as the grit will just wash away.
